airfoill Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Hello all, I wanted to ask if anybody here has attended the Mooney Maintenance Clinic conducted by Jerry Manthey. There is one scheduled next month in November in San Marcos, Texas and I'm considering going. Any opinions on the course for those who have attended? Quote
DonMuncy Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 I think it mostly depends on your background, knowledge and needs. I found it interesting, but a little simplistic. His "handout" book is nice to have, but most of the information is findable in the manuals and other sources. Overall, I'm glad I did the course, but if money was tight, I would question whether it was worth the cost. Quote
M20BE Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 What are they learning you over there ? Quote
Greg_D Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Herb, it's definitely a beginner's course. Honestly, I learned more during the course from the discussions I had with the other owners who were present. Much of the info presented was dated and some based on personal opinion rather than technical documents or science. Quote
airfoill Posted October 23, 2008 Author Report Posted October 23, 2008 Thanks for the input guys. I have all the maintenance manuals with the plane and have been doing the owner assisted annuals for the last 15 years. I thought that maybe this course would get into some really detailed stuff that maintenance manuals don't get into. Quote
Greg_D Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Don Maxwell is having a maintenance seminar up in Longview in December. Factory and OEM vendor reps will be there as well! Quote
