Guitarmaster Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 #4 CHT seems a bit low. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk GAMI spread is .1 Quote
rbridges Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 I wouldn't think so. My alarm (set by previous owner) doesn't go off unless I have a 40 degree difference. It is odd though. My # 1 and 4 cylinders are typically the hottest. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 I hope not because I have 2 cylinders with same problem: BTW, our MAP,RPM numbers are almost identical, you are getting more HP, OAT difference of 10 degrees and I'm 60 LOP. 1 Quote
Pritch Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 Does your #4 cylinder have the stock probe, if so then the JPI probe different than the rest and could account for the lower reading. Pritch Quote
Guitarmaster Posted October 11, 2016 Author Report Posted October 11, 2016 Does your #4 cylinder have the stock probe, if so then the JPI probe different than the rest and could account for the lower reading. Pritch No. All new JPI probes.Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk Quote
bradp Posted October 11, 2016 Report Posted October 11, 2016 I noticed my number 2 (IO-360 l) was running a bit cool... on Gami spread it now peaks first and goes deep LOP when the other guys are sitting in range. In flight LOP mag test was unremarkable. In all likelihood I'm on to chasing an induction leak or FF discrepancy for number 2. I'll let you all know how it goes. Quote
Guitarmaster Posted October 11, 2016 Author Report Posted October 11, 2016 I just did the induction leak test. #3 Delta was higher by 50 than the rest. Either I have a leak in number three or all the others. I sent it to savvy to what they think.Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk Quote

Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk You know, I have 4 EGT probes driving my engine analyzer too (mine happens to be an EI analyzer, not JPI) but the one on the #4 cylinder is connected to the stock probe that feeds the EGT on the panel. As a result it produces a diminished temperature reading than the others. Perhaps your setup is different but in mine there is simply no way to connect the #4 EI probe without making use of the stock probe. Quote

The JPI fit right into the stock hole.It was the low CHT number was questioning though.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Pritch Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 Have you tried switching the probes to see if you get the same reading? Pritch Quote
Guitarmaster Posted October 12, 2016 Author Report Posted October 12, 2016 Actually, no. However, Savvy came back with a possible #4 plug problem. Investigation to come..... Quote
carusoam Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 The Savvy folks have some really good skills! Best regards, -a- 2 Quote

Yours doesn't. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
carusoam Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 I remember the firmware update to get the lines. Probably can search that out around here... Best regards, -a- Quote
mccdeuce Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 So curious based on this - I will have to try to download my EDM700 data to find more. I am seeing much higher CHTs with similar RPM/MP/OAT. on intitial ferry flight was seeing 385 and on my flight yesterday to Florida I saw closer to 400. I know that the probe is screwed up for cylinder 1 and I usually monitored only the hottest somdomt know the spread. The engine is the A3B6 conversion with split mags. I am not sure if they are 25 or 20 timed. My plan was to put on a electroair emag but even more unsure because of the high cht's. Probably going to inspect my baffling tonight or tomorrow as well as do a GAMI test. (Maybe injectors in wrong spots after engine swap) Quote

If so, which ones? Quote
mccdeuce Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 No I have CHT on all 4 but something is wrong with #1. It fluctuates all over the place. Quote

I will have to look again. Going to try and run a GAMI spread check on Friday as well. Should have better understanding. 3 hours ago, M20Doc said: CHT can not normally change rapidly, I'd suggest a loose wire or faulty probe. Clarence Agreed. I suspect a faulty probe but am contemplating upgrading to the 730 or 830 so will fix when I do that. Quote
