Hi guys

I would like to have advise on scat tubing.

Actually it is a pain to insert a new scat tube on the metal duct and perhaps you have tricks to make it easier?

Thanks

Give us a hint on which scat tubing connected to what duct....

A photo would be ultra helpful.

My old M20C had all the aluminum ducts shaped to a cone, more or less...

Best regards,

It is not a scat tubing in particular.

I am asking for advise regarding the way how to insert properlly a scat tubing: Do I have to remove a part of the wire in order to improve introduction of the duct?

Is it mandatory to leave all the scat wire on the metal tubing before tightening the collar?

Thanks for help :)

I perhaps find a biginning of answer using SCEET tubing that is double walled so easier to put on metal tubing!

Thanks Andy for the very good source of videos!

Except for cases where Scat duct is used for engine intake air or carburetor heat.  In those cases the wire should extend over the metal tube.

I got my A&P 20 years ago and although I wasn't taught that, it makes complete sense.  I'll be changing mine next annual.  Thanks, Clarence!

For the SCAT the method I use is simaler to the EAA vidio but take the 90 degree wire and put over the metal pipe you are connecting to. Then the worn clamp holds the wire 90degree tab and the hose. That way the wire can't find its way into the carburetor. Also I would put a dab of high temp silicon on the string so it would not pull off.

SCEET has the inner tube and should not be used on anything that can pull a slight vacuum. The inner wall will suck in and block airflow.

Ok

My main issue is succeding to pass the wire on the metal tube.... If the metal tube as quite the same size as the scat duct , I have great difficulties to pass the wire on...

Do you have a method to enlarge the duct end a bit?

thanks

Thanks Bill, I was looking for this link having bought from them before.  He does a great job.  Removes the wire a few inches from the end and creates a silicon sealed reinforced area that easily slips over the mounting area.

Here is a photo of what I do. If you remove the string it will expand a little. Again put a dab of RTV on the cut end of the string so it doesn't unravel.

Thanks Jim

I just tested this way but I passed the wire end beneath the last ring. So the wire end can't move .

You'd be able to sell at least 100 here at $25.00 each.  We are talking about the home of CB's after all.

I don't have a dog in the fight, as I fly a K model, but if I were in it, I would suggest you ask around and find about 5 people who need one, or figure they will soon. Then quiz Gee-Bee about how much he needs to get production going and build x number of them. Then have each of your 5 contribute equal amounts to invest that amount. Have one of the trusted guys take possession, distribute them and collect a fair(ish) price until you get your investments back. (Plus a little for your risk if you so desire). At that time, you have a source available.

My Comanche doesn't need one either.  My post was "tongue and cheek". For some CB's free wouldn't be free enough.

Yes, order your Sceet and Scat from Custom Ducts!!! Tell them the inside diameter and length and they will send you a new hose with custom molded ends!! So you will not need to mess around with cutting the wire or worrying about the string in unraveling. They are so easy to install.

We stock black sceet

3/4 to 4”

mine bends like single wall scat, there is no comparison in quality.

Iam the only mfg that can mold a elbow in 3 or 6 inch drop.

That garage seller uses bulk duct and a home oven , does not use a autoclave .

Compare quality, Iam a Tso supplier to DOD / US Air Force

Guy, the ducts you made for me are great.

Do you have any idea of the purpose of the string on the outside of   SCEET/SCAT/CEET? Always wondered.
