Just moved to Fort Bragg and would like to meet some fellow mooniacs in the area after things settle down this coming month ;)

I'll be based out of KFAY but I was walking by 2GC this past weekend and saw two Mooneys in the open hangars.

I'm not based there, but my inlaws live there (retired Artillery). I'll try to remember to look you up on my next visit.

Your getting almost close enough to make some of our fly-ins!

That's awesome! There seems to be more Mooney activity here on the east coast ;)

Can't wait to bring her back here.

How close are we talking? I might be able to make one anyways ;)

Close enough to the Pik N Pig

I'm based at KTTA, less than 40 NM away from KFAY.

I'll be sure to look you up if I find myself doing a cross country that way ;)

I think if we can get you to southern Virginia, I might be able to get some of the Jersey folks down to visit.

One of those Mooneys is mine at 2GC. The red one close to the runway.

I'm new to the Mooney scene but I love that plane. :D

Fly in some time and chat with us. I'm an A&P/IA and stay busy with planes around the area. I actually have an M20E in the shop right now with the engine sent off the the engine shop.

That's awesome! I actually walked around that one to look at the paint. I was very impressed ;) Mine is due for a paint job but that's a project for another time. I am number 1 on the list for a hangar at KFAY an a spot is opening up in a month. I might have to bring the aircraft back on a ferry flight if I can't get the annual done before the spot opens at KFAY. I'll have to show you the tank sealant removal machine I made ;) I stripped and resealed the right wing manually but the left I will do with the machine. It has been an adventure owning this bird and love it. We'll have to get together sometime ;)

I don't know if you noticed or not, but the interior is completely tore out of mine. Everything is getting recovered with leather and repainted. I wanted to buy this thing and fly-fly-fly but it seems like I can't stop 'fixing' things! But fuel leaks isn't one of them, it had bladders installed and I love it. No leaks! But please come by anytime. There is always someone there during the week and I probably just missed you that weekend.

Smitty,

I'll definitely come by. This weekend I might be heading down to the beach. If so, I will swing by ;) Last time I went, the place was empty and I spoke to Dale on the phone but he was at an appointment and told me his son was at the beach for the week. I know exactly what you're saying when it comes to fixing instead of flying. I have been mostly fixing mine since I bought it but only because I'm OCD and want to make it look like it rolled out of the factory yesterday. I'm done with the interior. All I have left is the left tank and a paint job; however, I think I need to focus on flying it this year because there will always be something to do on it ;) It is an amazing aircraft for sure and I want to keep it that way.
