bannerpilot35 Posted March 10, 2016 Report Posted March 10, 2016 I have a 1965 M20C. when I push the key in to start (extreme right position) the electrical, system totally dies. can reset the master and power is restored. Bad starter? is there a breaker in the master switch?
Guitarmaster Posted March 10, 2016 Report Posted March 10, 2016 It doesn't return when you release the key? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
bannerpilot35 Posted March 10, 2016 Author Report Posted March 10, 2016 no I must reset the master to get power back. have checked everything when starter is hot wired it cranks slow.
N601RX Posted March 10, 2016 Report Posted March 10, 2016 Its likely the master relay. You can measure the voltage on the out side of it to confirm.
Piloto Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 Weak battery. Check battery voltage at terminals. With master off voltage should be at least 12.0 volts. Also check battery connections. José
bannerpilot35 Posted March 11, 2016 Author Report Posted March 11, 2016 Problem persists even when a jump start is used.
Yetti Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 (edited) Clean all terminals to shiny bright status. Service battery. Check master relay. What model plane? What kind of starter? It could be that the starter is over drawing on amps... but not likely... Edited March 11, 2016 by Yetti
DrBill Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 I too suspect a bad connection somewhere. Do not forget to check ground connections too !! To eliminate battery. Put voltmeter directly on battery and have assistant push key in.. If voltage on battery drops below 10 it is bad. I suspect it will stay up and you lose V on the buss due to a bad connection. Bill
