zerobearing2 Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 Just wrapped up another annual, and low and behold, the dang fuel selector valve won't reseal after inspection. Anyone have any advice? We've tried several times, with no luck. I guess I'm looking at sending it out for overhaul. It works great, except for the leaking. Would hate to have to overhaul this turkey every annual just to get it sealed up. Anyone have any tips? Cheers, dave Quote
MB65E Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 There is a Stato-seal at the -3 bolt. Many people think it's just a washer. It should be replaced along with the gasket. Lasar has the kits. I was impressed. I ordered the gasket and it came with the Stato-seal. Thanks Mr. Dan @ Lasar. -Matt Quote
jetdriven Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 I overhauled mine at the shop during one annual. The kit was around 60$ From the guys at LASAR. That's been 2.5 years now it still doing great. Quote
pirate Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 I sent mine to Lasar 6 years ago and still works great. very quick turnaround. Money well spent. Quote

This will have a bad outcome...Get it fixed at Lasar or Don Maxwell's and keep from ending UWOF.... 2 Quote
zerobearing2 Posted November 20, 2015 Author Report Posted November 20, 2015 Alrighty then, looks like I'll send it for overhaul -- seems to make the most sense after hearing from you guys. Thanks for all the feedback! Quote
zerobearing2 Posted February 16, 2016 Author Report Posted February 16, 2016 Just wanted to report back incase anyone finds this thread later. We sent the fuel selector out to LASAR, they overhauled and after 4 hours of flight time, all is working perfectly. No more leaks Thanks everyone for all the input. Dave 1 Quote
Bob_Belville Posted February 16, 2016 Report Posted February 16, 2016 Yup, we "rebuilt" mine at the last annual,. Cleaned, replaced o-rings and stato-seal. It was not leaking fuel but it was sucking in air which screwed up the fuel flow reading. JPI diagnosed the likely culprit and had me put a drop of oil on the shaft of the selector lever which fixed the flow reading problem and isolated what needed to be done. 1 Quote
larryb Posted February 16, 2016 Report Posted February 16, 2016 Bob, can you comment on what you saw in your fuel flow reading? Quote

Sure, very erratic and impossible flow rates. Usually below actual, e.g. 5.5 gph @ 65% power, but spikes to 22 gph on take off. This affected fuel used totalizer as well. On one fillup indicated used was 20-30% higher than actual. K factor is well calibrated and JPI is normally within 1% of actual. Quote
