My EDM 700 came with a round cable that has a DB-9 serial on the other end. Of course no one has computers with serial ports anymore. What is the best way to download data now? Can you convert to USB. JPI just says to pay them $200 for a form of a thumb drive adaptor but I'm guessing there are simpler solutions.

Robert - I had an old Jeppesen IFR trainer console that had a serial connector. You can purchase a serial to USB connector. Just google serial to USB and you can see the options. They are typically cheap and worth a try.

I have the $200 gizmo that JPI sold me for the JPI 700 that I removed for a 830.

PM your address and contact info and it is yours.

Buy one of these: http://www.tripplite.com/high-speed-usb-to-serial-adapter-keyspan~USA19HS/

You can connect up your DB9 connector to this device.  It basically turns your USB connection to a serial port.  With the software that comes with it, you can set the BAUD rate and download the data using JPI's fee windows software.  Once the files are downloaded you can turn around and upload them to Savvy Analysis for viewing.  All works like a champ!
