IvoryM Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Hey guys, Thanks for all the feed back on the battery. I have been having some issues with my compass. I had the gasket and fluid replaced but it is still giving me trouble. I have to decided to replace it with a new one. Any recommendations on a new one would be appreciated. It is currently mounted on the down post in the middle of the windshield. I would like to get one with new mounting brackets too. M20E Super 21 Thanks Mitch Quote
DrBill Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 I have the vertical card compass with balls !. came with the plane and it works just great Quote
Mooneymite Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Go to a vertical card compass: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/search/search.php?s=VERTICAL+COMPASS+CARD&x=0&y=0 Quote
scottfromiowa Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Mitch, Have you checked the search? There are a lot od threads on this... I like the SIRS compass, lighted. Works great. Not to pricey. 1 Quote
drapo Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 I had the vertical card with the balancing balls. My M20E still has the original windshield and I would knock my head on those balls almost every time I got in. Decided to change for a SIRS and I am very satisfied. 1 Quote
slowflyin Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 +1 for the SIRS, removed the vertical card. I like the smaller profile. Does great in TB 1 Quote
CaptRJM Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Vertical Card Compass is the way to go. Had similar problems with the original compass. Upgraded to the Vertical Card and couldn’t be happier. Was able to calibrate compass without balancing balls. Precision makes a Center Post Mount for Mooney. Quote
DrBill Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 I went to the airport today and took a detailed picture of the mount... Not pretty but it works... Not quite what I would have done given my machine shop access but .... Quote
Wildhorsesracing Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 I went with the SIRS - very clear and love it - http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/inpages/sirs_compass2.php Quote
