Parker - I saw that on controller yesterday said to myself "I wonder if this would fit".  Many have asked about a 210 and the T210 (I specifically need a turbo) would be a perfect fit.  I'm looking at a FIKI T210N and other than acquisition being higher than I want it is in fact the perfect combination of speed and utility.  However I'm told they are fairly expensive to maintain which is just the opposite I'm told of a mooney.

Parker do you know the useful load of N252BH.  I assume it has a TSIO-520?

Thanks for the feedback, that has been my concern.  The matrix is good but MX costs way too much on it, same with most of the Mali's owners I've talked to.

Also was looking at the Saratoga as it has a bigger payload and going slower going into a Seneca with Huge payload and keeping me in a twin but stepping down from my current twin.

I was hopeful that the M20M Rocket with 1100 usable (Some Iv'e seen) could be a good hauler for me.  I dont' always fly with my 4 (my 4 are myself and my wife 17 year old PPL son and 21 Year old IFR Private Son). but we are light in weight.

Is there any good 4 person mooney or should I head back to the Saratoga / Senecas?

Since all your sons are pilots, why don't you buy two Vintage Mooneys? Only take both when you really need it. We did this with cars here (I have 5 kids, but this was many years ago) and saved money this way.

The ad says 1030lbs...

The engine is a TSIO-360-MB/SB

It is 220 horsepower since it has been converted to an Encore.

The Rocket is the 305hp TSIO-520

I personally like your T-210 idea over a Mooney.

Though I would probably take a Piper Seneca III or later with your budget.

Yeah - I do like the Seneca III, however they are slower than a mooney and slower than the T210 but saftey factor of the twin (As I currently have) I like.  Given the risk of SEO on takeoff is risk.. However the Seneca III has everything I'd want with exception of MX costs.

I think I'll keep looking at options for the Mooney and perhaps once I get in one I'll have a better feel of them and the way they are.

If you want to carry 575 pounds of pax and 4 hours (or more) of fuel, you'll need an M20K 252 that has been converted to an Encore of an early M20M Bravo.

Otherwise, you won't get the useful load you need.

Most people who have $16K first annuals didn't get a good pre-purchase inspection done.

The Mooney I used to own is for sale. It would be the perfect candidate.

Well that plane didn't last long, went to look at it again and it's no longer on controller

It took Parker a year to make it that nice!

There aren't dozens like it hoping to be picked up.

Limited market + fairly priced = fast moving market....

Expect decline in fuel price + improving economy + declining unemployed + spring is coming = stronger plane market...

When MS is saying its a buyer's market. They don't mean the best planes are selling at a deep discount.

Kelly, Do you still have your bird?

All American takes some trades, if that is helpful to know...

OK, well I'm having some issues quoting.... I'm sure Boeing will let you have a C-17 for $200 mil, give or take. I'm guessing they are on sale since the line has shut down. For a scant 20K pounds per hour you can travel in comfort with 54 of your closest friends with 4 or 5 SUVs and all of your luggage. It's really a bargain. The runway length isn't that much of a problem, we can land on 3500' around 475K. She's a little girthy, 285K empty. Cracking the runway is the bigger issue. It's been around long enough that there are plenty of retired pilots to fly it. Yep, you should get one!

Have the guy who you plan on using for annuals do your pre-buy, and let him know you will be back next year. He won't dare miss much on the pre-buy he knows he will have to sell you next year. (This presumes you are going to have a good Mooney guy do the annuals)

I can tell you this. Get a good pre-purchase inspection done by a shop that knows Mooney's. You may hear a lot of good things about Don Maxwell, but my personal experience with him was not good at all. When I asked him about some discrepancies that did not sound right he went off. Anyone who cannot answer to a discrepancy that they wrote up is in my opinion not honest. Stay away from Don Maxwell.

You said your peace... Now let's move on.
