If you look at the airport diagram below I believe transient is the area I used a big circle and the restaurant is the small circle. I think StinkBug will be there at 12 but he will have to verify that. I will get there around 11am. I will be sure to be around my plane around 11:30 unless there is some obvious spot to hang out. I have a white Eagle with blue ascent stripes. If I'm the first Mooney there I will try to find some available tie downs that are together.

You are correct on those locations. The transient spaces along the front of the building all back up to a patio that has bleachers for watching the runway activity and a loudspeaker so you can listen in to the Tower. I'm gonna try to be there as early as possible, but it somewhat depends on when my passenger can get to the airport. Should be before noon though.

In other news I got my new plane home today! Had a minor issue with a leaking nose wheel tube, but managed to get it fixed pretty easily this morning in El Paso. Thanks to RocketAviator for all the hospitality and for knowing who to talk to!

-a-,

There will be a Caravan clinic on the East Coast (NJ/PA/MD area) later this spring. Announcements will be out within the next few weeks. You fly an 'O' so let's 'GO'. After 15 years of excuses (ok, attempts) times up!

(sorry for the thread hijack)

Break Break------------- SoCal,

My FAVORITE fly-in restaurant in SoCal is the Waypoint Cafe at Camarillo (KCMA). Rampside dining, cheap gas, no fees, CAF museum adjacent, no SMOG, and one of the BEST Tri-Tip Sandwiches around!

SADOT

Let me know when & where I doubt I'd take the Rocket all that way but might get that way to help out in some way! I anticipate getting to East coast a few times in the next several months.

Good times! Hope your flight home went well. I ended up departing on an IFR and got vectored all over the place. It wasn't the most efficient way back to KMYF but a good exercise for the real deal. I took video on the way up and back I'll see if it's worth posting. Unfortunately It wasn't until after lift off that I remebered to turn on the camera, oh well. Nice seeing you all!

Thank you for the excellent vid and for sharing your adventure on acquiring your Mooney. I have visited Pallomar a couple times and will be down again some time this spring. Weather here has kept me grounded but is supposed to lift today. way to go I'm going to have to get me one of those cameras.

Nice edits...

Especially the answers to "hey, what airport is that?"

Best regards,

You pass over quite a few on the way up there. Always fun to spot them all. Figured it might be interesting for folks from other areas of the world. It's hard to tell from the video because I jumped ahead a little, but SMO is just barely to the north of LAX. You might be able to pick it out in the distance in the shot from over LAX before I jumped forward to the closer angle. Makes for a fairly steep descent when you start out at 4500' and about 3 miles south of the field.

I ran into you guys just by sheer chance as we had flown into KSMO for lunch that day.  If you guys have another meet-up... please let us know.  We'd be happy to cruise out and meet everyone.

Hey Russ, glad you made it! You said you're over at French Valley right? I'm at CRQ and fly in there fairly regularly. Nice quiet place to do pattern work.

Definitely time for another run! Russ late notice but StinkBug and I are doing a formation clinic in Yuma this weekend. You might just fly out for the day and check it out. There will be several MooneySpace members there.

kmyfm20s, where do you go when you come out to the desert? I am in KCXL Calexico / Mexicali.

See you and Stinkbug in Yuma this weekend.

Dave,

I didn't know there was any Mooney's down in the Imperial Valley, very cool! I fly into KIPL a couple time a week. As a matter of fact getting ready to head there now. I look forward to meeting you at the clinic.

Hi gents,

Sorry about the delay in responding.....I gotta figure out how to get notified when people add to this thread.  I just logged back on to see if you guys might have another meet up planned.

Either way I'd love to meet up with you guys and was thinking maybe Camarillo since it's really starting to warm up.  I haven't been yet, but I hear the Waypoint Cafe is great.

Talk to you all soon.

Russ
