amishflyer Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 Just got a stratus 2 and I am wondering where everyone is mounting them. I tried the glare shield this weekend but as we all know where isn't much room there. I am trying to find somewhere that's level so I can reference the AHRS if needed and still get a good GPS signal. Any suggestions/pictures are greatly appreciated. Quote
N7186V Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 I have the RAM suction mount and afix it to the front-lower corner of the rear passenger window so I can reach it if necessary. 3 Quote
Danb Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 I kinda like 7186v. I use the Ram mount but put it on the side pilot window so if it falls off which it did once it lands on my lap and Input it back up...I did not like it on the glare shield for many reasons.... Quote
smwash02 Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 While not part of the Stratus club, I have a GDL39 that lives in the hat rack area with power run to it. 1 Quote

HRM Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 I've been planning on doing the same. Where did you run the power from? The PO of my E had a power line run from the main relay and the battery back to the hatrack. It emerged from a hole with a 2-terminal molex female connector. When I redid my interior, I installed a surface mount 12 VDC outlet. Handy for all sorts of things back there. 1 Quote

carusoam Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 We had discussed this type of power socket a few years ago when the SkyRadar first came out. A power supply back there may make sense for a couple of things. Keep the unused holes covered and make sure there is a fuse to protect the circuit... Private pilot logic... Best regards, -a- Quote
Culver LFA Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 I just set mine on the floor between the front seats, works perfect. Quote
smwash02 Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 I've been planning on doing the same. Where did you run the power from? I did a less sophisticated version of what HRM did since my interior is yet to be done. It shares power from one of my breakers and then along the pilot side of the aircraft. Originally I had the GDL39 mounted in the tailcone, but it didn't get reception. Once I get an antenna it'll likely end up back there again. Quote

carusoam Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 Going through a switch, +++ A forgotten SkyRadar can drain the life out of a Gill battery in a few days... Another thing for the last checklist. Best regards, -a- Quote
