aviatoreb Posted July 27, 2014 Report Posted July 27, 2014 Here it is folks - the ultimate in Augmented Reality that several of us guessed someone should make as soon as we saw Google glasses. Well someone has been working on it. At first glance, to me it looks fabulous. http://generalaviationnews.com/2014/07/24/video-what-augmented-reality-aerial-navigation-looks-like/ http://glass.aero It will be at Osh. Will someone there please take the time to visit them and give us some feedback about how you like it? Cost? When it will be available?
Steve Dawson Posted July 27, 2014 Report Posted July 27, 2014 Looks great. What's the cost and what is needed to interface with the glasses?
Raygun15E Posted July 27, 2014 Report Posted July 27, 2014 Awesome! A civilian version of JHMCS. The SA gained from tech like this is amazing. On the flip side, it's easy to become addicted to it and not listen to the radios as well. It would still make flying easier in complex and busy airspace.
Piloto Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 This product would appeal more to helicopters pilots were the displays are down on the pedestal. Unlike airplanes were you are landing at an airport a helicopter pilot is flying to a street address like those with TV news. It would be nice to superimpose a street moving map with obstacles and nearby air traffic on the glasses. Since a helicopter pilot have both hands always on the controls it would be helpful if there is also a voice recognition feature to change display modes or to enter a destination address. José
David Mazer Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 That is way cool. I can't wait to hear more about this.
ryoder Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 I signed up for the beta. Not sure what that means but I have been waiting for this. I wonder how much is vapor ware.
Hank Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 Let us know how it works, what hardware is required, and if you think it's worth the non-vapor-ish expenses.
