Mooneymite Posted May 5, 2014 Report Posted May 5, 2014 I just got my transponder/pitot-static check done. I used the same guy I used last year. Ray travels around the southeast and comes right to your hangar, so there's no transportation/waiting issue. Ray Allen's Electronics Inc 53a-6 Hangar DriveButler, GA 31006 - View Map Phone: (478) 862-3033 Cell: (478) 837-1098 Ray charged me $260, but this June, he's going up $20. I was wondering what everyone else pays. This is the seventh check I've done since I've owned the plane. It has never needed any adjustments, or corrections. Seems like a huge waste of money to be doing this every 2 years. Quote
Hank Posted May 5, 2014 Report Posted May 5, 2014 I don't recall what mine cost, but I've had to OH the altimeter and ASI [together one time, and just Alt one time]. Seems to be worth the effort, to say nothing of being legally able to file IFR. Quote
1964-M20E Posted May 5, 2014 Report Posted May 5, 2014 I pay about the same. Yes seems like a waste but at least it is every 2 years not every year. Quote

Hank Posted May 5, 2014 Report Posted May 5, 2014 I can't speak for John, but I'm an engineer. The glass is not half full; the glass is not half empty. The glass is simply too large. Guess I've been in manufacturing for too long . . . . . . 1 Quote
N601RX Posted May 5, 2014 Report Posted May 5, 2014 Paid $280 last year. That usually includes getting in one of the owners classics and going to lunch in style. Quote

N601RX Posted May 5, 2014 Report Posted May 5, 2014 No, I use Jules Moffit in Wetumpka, Al. When airplane work slowed down a few years ago he took up a hobby of restoring old cars. He had 4 or 5 in his hanger last time I was there. They are all in their Mid 80's and still go work every day. There are some nice P51's in the Troy hanger. Quote
laytonl Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 Ray comes to North Carolina too. I pay whatever Ray says. Lee Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 I've paid between $150 and $350. $260 seems like a fair price. Quote
Mooneymite Posted August 9, 2024 Author Report Posted August 9, 2024 Sad news.... I talked to Ray a couple of days ago. Ray's wife who generally accompanied him on his sojourns, passed in January. Ray is back doing the IFR checks, but with a heavy heart. 1 Quote
