bdjohn4 Posted January 2, 2014 Report Posted January 2, 2014 I was planning on doing the cowling mod to my E, but I can't seem to get Ed Kimbro to answer my emails and now I noticed that his website has been down for several days. I have his email as ewkimbro@ari201.com . I spoke with him on the phone about 2 months ago, and he said he was getting a new mold made up and would be ready, etc etc. Does anyone have his telephone number or another way to contact him? Thanks. John Quote
N601RX Posted January 2, 2014 Report Posted January 2, 2014 Another member here ordered one from him a month or so ago. Quote
bdjohn4 Posted January 2, 2014 Author Report Posted January 2, 2014 ARI's website is simply down for renovation. I just spoke with Ed Kimbro. None of the new, sandwiched-version cowlings for a couple of months or so it appears. JML Quote
N601RX Posted January 2, 2014 Report Posted January 2, 2014 I had planned on adding one this spring sometime. I've heard a few other people mention it also. It might worth talking to him and seeing if there is a possibility of a group buy. I would want the sandwiched version. 1 Quote

bdjohn4 Posted January 2, 2014 Author Report Posted January 2, 2014 So that makes three of us. Are three of us ready to buy? I am. Ed's guys are making the new plug now, but perhaps with three of us interested, we might be able to push them to work faster on it. At the moment it is looking like March-ish, maybe later. Quote
tonyk628 Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 If I have an E by then that doesn't have a mod, you can count me in for #4 Quote
TWinter Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 I'd be in for one on my E. That's Five... Quote
podair Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 I might be interested too, but I have to check on the installation requirements on my European reg aircraft. I need to confirm it has been installed here in Europe. I spoke to ARI ages ago and they did tell me they sold a kit to Switzerland or Germany. Anyone know of it? There is another thing that is not quite clear however, do I need a new spinner? I have a Hartzell 3 blade on my M20F. Quote
Shadrach Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 Where can I find info on this cowl? Not much luck googling.... Quote
N601RX Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 I'll post the brochures when I get to work today Quote
N601RX Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 Here is the info that the owner gave me a few years ago. The largest expense is the new 201 style spinner. The STC is written in a way that says you can use any spinner that is approved for a J model and is correct for your prop. If your old spinner is in bad shape and is in need of replacement anyway then the expense may be more easy to justify. I purchased a used polished J spinner last year that was in good shape for $400 and plan to use it. I've talked to a few people who installed it and they have reported good speed gains. Sabremech Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 I have the ARI enclosure on my C. I like it generally and I will preface what I am about to say that mine is an old one. The fiberglass will crack. I have to repair mine at least every 2 years. I can't speak for his new sandwiched method cowl enclosure, but I think it is much better than his early style. It's a pretty good price for what you get and the looks are far better than stock. David Quote
Openwheeler3 Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 I'm interested in ordering a cowl as well. I was planning on ordering in April. Quote
