tsuttles Posted November 21, 2013 Report Posted November 21, 2013 Probably like a million other people I am in search of a Brittan autopilot. I have the PC wing leveler and don't want to spend 24000.00 on the stec stuff as I was quoted by a local shop. Let me know if you have anything. Tim tsuttles@nc.rr.com Quote
Schinderhannes Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 I had recently our system overhauled by Brittain. Super people to work with and maybe one of the best values in the aviation industry. When discussing the repairs with staff I was told that the issues is that no servo control valves are available. Therefore it seems critical to buy only a complete system. I saw one for sale on EBAY for $1500. Considering that one sold recently for $1200 that seemed high to me, but if the alternatives are 10 times that much it doesn't sound that bad anymore. In the meantime we have our system coupled to a GX60 and love it. Quote
tsuttles Posted November 22, 2013 Author Report Posted November 22, 2013 Thanks for the info, that is what I am hearing also. I have a 430W and hope I can couple them together. Quote

Will connect (Accu-Trak) to analog L/R of 430. I have mine connected to a 300XL. The Accu-Flite (Heading bug) works even better than Accu-Trak. Both on is golden. Good luck, Scott Quote

I have a Brittain B-5 in my 68F and I can't seem to get it to act right and the altitude hold doesn't hold either. Quote

I have a Brittain B-5 in my 68F and I can't seem to get it to act right and the altitude hold doesn't hold either. First I checked the servos with a hand vacuum pump (check the archives for great how to do write-ups) and found one ripped servo, removed it and got it repaired. Then I removed the TC100 and the servo control valve and send them to Brittain. Turn around 1.5 weeks and total cost less than $700. Per Brittain, the servo and plumming have to be so airtight that you can go to lunch and when you come back it still holds the vacuum. Quote
