  1. Dyersburg TN to Jack Edwards for a birthday lunch for my dad (He turned 75 this week). Great day. Plane flew great, weather was sunny and 72 and lunch was excellent.. Nothing like being able to go to LuLu's and back home the same day. About 2.3 hrs each way. DYR-JKA Left at 8:30 and back home to Tennessee by 4 pm.
  2. Just looked back at invoices. I had the GDL-88 D (two ant), Flight Stream and all wired into my existing GTN750.. I was all in at about $8100.00 It was installed last year.
  3. Paint scheme and color look kind of similar. Nice choice
  4. A yoke mount with a "X-Grip" will work well w/ the phone. Makes it easy to take with you after the flight and easy to put in when ready to fly. I've used both the ipad mini and ipad, used the phone a few times, but I do miss some of the program features on the full size ipad app. Not quite sold on the phone app, but I really have not given it the time I've given the ipads. -Tom
  5. Usually Mrs. Santa's wallet is only the start of something new, after it's empty Tom's (me) wallet has to open to finish it ..funny how it works that way Maybe JPI will be having a big sale on the 900s or 930s around the first of the year. Selling my 830 and OEM parts I may slide into a new one without to big of a hit to the wallet.
  6. If I could afford to have the two pieces (Aspens) below with a 900 I would really be a happy aviator
  7. Wonder what the cost would be to go from 830 to 900 or 930? The 830 is great, just like to clean up the panel.
  8. You have to wonder if some of the lack of interest has to do with the media's roll in reporting of the news and the bad and dangerous spin they seem to put on almost every small plane crash. Even though as pilots we all know the stats and how safe flying actually there is still the morbid sensationalism and hype the news media stir up when there is a GA accident. Many times when I'm in discussion with folks who are not very GA savvy they are quick to point out the how dangerous flying must be in a small airplane and they recite the most recent airplane accident they can remember. Look at us today here on the forum...we've already heard about a fatal Mooney crash as reported from the internet news, years ago we possibly may have never heard about the accident. With the news now we seem to hear about every mishap major or minor. This idea may have anything to do with it, but most of the news reporting sure does not help promote GA.
  9. You guys are out of my league..I have enough trouble doing W/B on my own plane
  10. Be sure to keep your old, I think you will need to send it in to them in order to get your new, cracked in pieces or not.
  11. Plane Plastics? I replaced mine earlier this year with replacements from them.
  12. I have a leftover Zaon XRX to Garmin 560 Data Cable available for sale. This cable will allow for single plug power for Zaon XRX and Garmin Portable 560. It will also give you traffic display on your Garmin 560. MS price $100 shipped. Paypal is okay or a check by mail.. I have it listed on EBay with the same price, however, shipping is not included in the EBay ad. You will save a few MS bucks. These are no longer available and hard to come by if you were looking for one. Thanks, -Tom
  13. Saw two of these on FleaBay...JFYI
  14. Good condition cable for the "Power Boost" (from the power boost nose door to sliding lever on console) for my 73E. My cable is fraying and needs replaced.
  15. After all the new goodies are installed pick a nice day and just stay in the relative area (your comfort zone). Eliminate all other possible distractions, no others on board, have full fuel etc. I did several flights just staying with 10-15 miles around the home dome. I gradually started turning knobs and getting comfortable and confident with the shops install and with the new gear. Lastly, put the quick reference books next to the porcelain office at home. Just thumbing through them you will always pick up a tidbit you missed while you were flying. Make the mental note and try the new tidbits next time you are up or at the hanger.. Just my .02 I learned my GTN750, Flight Stream 210 and GDL88 this way..I know,..TMI Enjoy the new toys! -Tom
  16. Can you send me a picture of it..I have one, but mine is a cabin cover only. Is yours waterproof or just a indoor cover? I'll take first option if you can get me a picture. I looked at their site. Apparently I'm overlooking the canopy/cowl cover. They are also made differently for the 201 windshield mod. I have the 201 mod..wondering of it will work? You can send me a PM with pics if you have any and the answers to the questions if you happen to know. They made the wrong one..won't they take it back and save you $ on the correct one.? -Tom
  17. Or... Don't be the guy doing practice touch and goes or just doing "pattern work" at a busy uncontrolled airport like Jack Edwards on a holiday weekend when the pattern is crazy busy with holiday air traffic trying to get in or out. Drives me crazy. .
  18. I think Wicks has the actual ones that go in the middle of the yoke. They have them in their catalog.
  19. 7741M just detailed.
  20. The new Caruthersville, Mo hangers just finished this past month. Good day to detail 7741M.
  21. Good day to clean the hanger and detail the old girl..Looking good for being born in 1973.
  22. Annual TT Hours
  23. He just had knee replacement so it will be spring before we plan it. Definitely will do it though. Tomorrow is never guaranteed. His side of the family is from NewYork City and they usually stay at Lake George during the summer. Lake George would be a much shorter trip and good practice spring trip before the longer westerly trips. We will tackle that first, then plan his bucket list states. I'm looking forward to all of it.
  24. Well, Mooney 7741M is in for annual. Looking at the books I ended up with a few more hours this year over last year at annual time. Looks like I had 76 hrs for this year (annual to annual). Not as many hours as some, but more than others. I think the year before I was at about 50 hrs. My two trips to New England accounted for about 20 hrs. It felt good this year really stretching the legs of the Mooney and getting the longer trips in. Flying it the way it was meant to be flown. Only bad thing about it is all your relatives now think you can fly them anywhere anytime now..lol. My dad has told me the only states that his military career did not take him was North Dakota, Oregon and Idaho. He has marked these on his bucket list with hopes that we can do them in the Mooney. I told him these states might take more flight planning than my New England trips , He is only 83 yrs young, so I've got some time to plan. 76 hrs annual to annual, no bad IMHO. -Tom
