  1. In Foreflight, 100LL is at $2.97 a littre in Goose Bay which is about $12 a gallon. Yves
  2. My guess is that it was easier to build it this way.... Yves
  3. I thought aaron had a few too many before typing this... ethonal, Mogadishiu... now I understand lolll. Yves
  4. I am so upset, I did some more research... found this: http://www.aopa.org/News-and-Video/All-News/2013/July/25/Decision-pending-on-Bahamas-customs-fee.aspx Yves
  5. I was planning flying to the Bahamas eventually but these fees are completely changing my plans. I do not encourage greed...ever. Yves
  6. Et puis Christian, est-ce que tu l'a trouvé ton Mooney? Yves
  7. What fees? Yves
  8. It is possible your voltage raise is caused by RF making its way to the voltmeter. The headset leads might act as an antenna and something else seems to rectify this to cause that raise. Not sure what kind of filtering your voltmeter has... this is where I would look at first. Yves
  9. Can someone post a picture of that spring? Must be made of gold or titanium right? Yves
  10. Looks likes Canadians are OK with touch and goes: To meet the 6-month requirement for carrying passengers, you must have completed 5 takeoffs and landings in the same category and class within the previous 6 months. If the flight is to be flown at night then the takeoffs and landings must have been completed at night. No full stop requirement. With the runways covered with ice half of the time, we can hardly make full stops anyway.... lolll Yves
  11. I have caught my daughter drive her Toyota (that my wife owns) at a dangerously low oil level. We were away on a camping and all I had in my trunk was Phillips 20W50 for aircraft... I poured that in... was on the expensive side ($8 a litre) but this probably saved the engine. I used aircraft fuel in my lawn mower recently (ran out when mowing the tie down spot at the airport) and used aircraft fuel in my car when I was a teenager and the fuel distributors were on strike for a week (many many years ago)... no issues.... Yves
  12. As promised, here is the Mooney Caravan Tag Yves
  13. Mooney Caravan Drivers all had a name tag. I'll post a picture of mine shortly. Yves
  14. Erik, the diesel question was brought up and the answer was that they were not looking into this at this point. Yves
  15. We left the Mooney Caravan camping area yesterday morning. (Was quite busy on the take off from OSH with one full hour delay before departure). Most of the Mooney Caravan guys have left. There were still a few there. I think it will be difficult to have the guys meet unless you set a time and location. (Could be the Mooney Company tent) Yves
  16. Agreed with Fantom.. this was professional and safe. Yves
  17. Zane, not sure we we have seen each other. Come say hello... don't know what your aircraft call sign is. Mine is C-FQKM Yves
  18. This clip shall be a bit better... Yves
  19. Becca, come to Oshkosh... we really want to meet you both :-) Yves
  20. Looks like the iPAD turned that upside down... not much difference with the horizon though! Yves
  21. OK folks, went accross this morning. No weird sounds when in the middle. Here is a picture...crossed at 8.5 thousands Safely landed in Madison. Yves
  22. Erik, I am already half-way near Detroit more precisely Sarnia, ON. Piloto, you are right about the cold water. We'll make the decision tomorrow after the weather briefing. Still unsure. I crossed lake Ontario a few years back but it is narrower... we'll see. Dav8for, I might choose your option. You are right that all this flying is for pleasure. Lets not excite the devil! Yves
  23. Wow.. that is kind of a bit on the complex side. Thanks Erik and all the others. We are preparing today to fly westbound getting closer to Oshkosh. Lake crossing will probably happen tomorrow morning if everything falls in place... so many things to get ready. We might be lucky and get a wind from the north, which will simplify things a lot and decrease the uncertainties. If the wind is perpendicular to our flight path, the turning point shall be near the middle... or shortly before that I assume. Thanks again. Yves
  24. Thanks Brandon for all the detail. I have the vests in hands now (They are not bulk nor heavy) so I feel that I have all needed to cross if I need to. Yves (Almost on his way to Oshkosh, via Madison)
  25. I landed at KRUT two weeks ago... this does not seem too bad a name but when said, it sounds exactly like Crotte which in French (my mother tongue) is not a nice thing to deal with. Yves
