I had just seen that. I was really hoping it would turn out differently.

I've had my Lynx for six months or so and I love it. It did display on ForeFlight and then FF changed their stuff to make it where it would not work. Rumor has it that it will soon work on FF again. The display with "only" traffic is nice. I have an active traffic antenna (in stock) and hope to get that working too.

Reported now, the pilot and his mother and the pilots two children. His mother and one child were deceased at the site. I haven't heard about the pilot and the other child's status. I was thinking about going to the hospital if the pilot was able to recieve visitors. Any thoughts on this ? Not sure what I can do other than offer assistance. My biggest help would be transport of folks and that's not a good offer right now.

It's not the easiest airport for sure. Local to me and it's had its share of accidents over the years. gxsrpilot, let me know when you are in town and maybe we can meet up. I am at KDNN now. If anyone knows the family, if I can help on this end let me know.

Anyone have any experience with Mooney Mart?
Tony Armour replied to Supercop0184's topic in General Mooney Talk
Since Coy no longer has Mooney Mart it doesn't matter but here is my experience. I purchased a 201 (my first airplane) from Coy seventeen years ago (he was the broker). I had it painted, leather interior, speed brakes, engine analizer and several other upgrades and mods done by Mooney Mart/ Coy. Then went back for my first annual. Several times after that I stopped in and borrowed Coy's raft for trips. I can't name one time that he wasn't true to his word. I can name several times that he took care of me and went beyond what others would have done. I researched several brands and models of airplanes and decided on a 201. I called Mooney Mart and spoke with Coy...told him I was buying a 201. He didn't really want to sell me an airplane right then, that day, and I was READY to buy :-) He did want to sell me his Mooney buyers guide so I could learn more about them and make an informed decision. Was he just trying to make $90 bucks off of me (instead of trying to sell an entire airlplane ?) Who knows, but I sure did feel better about my decision and did make a more informed decision because off his guidance. I kept that bird seven years and it was still a beauty and a great airplane when I sold it and from the pictures of Mooney events in Ca. I see from time to time it's still a beauty ! Amazing metallic navy blue Emron paint with factory type metallic gold stripes. Opinions and experiences vary but thats mine. -
The other VA post says 21-21, I was confused.

I go in and out of KFME visiting my daughter. I think you better have a code before you depart VFR or IFR. I could be wrong but.......... You don't want to screw that up !! Didn't the online course address VFR take offs ? I play it safe and have always done IFR. Call them 866-429-5882 and get your routing and code before taking off. Typically they say call them back when ready to roll. If you are ready, be prepared, and tell them you are ready (can be a bit of routing they give you though) Great little airport. Reasonable fuel self serve. They did give a $3 parking discount with a fuel purchase but recently quit that (lame got worse) Easy in and out, right on the interstate. Daughter lives 12 min away if you need something let me know.

So it's just on Saturday ? A little confused with the 21-21 is there a schedule yet ? Thanks, Tony

Bravo lower cowl removal, solo. Lancecasper & Irish Tiger
Tony Armour replied to Tony Armour's topic in Mooney Bravo Owners
Or the connector. The connector is round, the type that has the male/female threads outside on the housing....one side screws onto the other. There are two of them on the copilots side of engine near firewall just inside the cowling (but only one is for the boost pump) You can trace the wire from the micro switch on the throttle cable. Kinda opposite side but same location as the wastegate. I think this is the second time mine has come loose in three years. I fully checked out the micro switch and then tried the connector, opposite of what I should have done because the connector is the easiest fix. :-) -
Before and after pictures !!!! :-)

Bravo lower cowl removal, solo. Lancecasper & Irish Tiger

No, with 25 hour oil changes it stays pretty free. But, I have done the drive the screwdriver thru the filter trick on several cars :-) -
Bravo lower cowl removal, solo. Lancecasper & Irish Tiger
Tony Armour replied to Tony Armour's topic in Mooney Bravo Owners
Finished up the oil change today. Found a loosened connector, the reason my fuel pump wouldn't come on by itself at full throttle. In the beginning of the video I touch the two hoses that need to be pushed into their hole in the cowl while installing. Very difficult to get thru there after the cowl is in place 100%. Note the use of my leg and knee at different times to hold it up. Pretty much the same as taking it off .....one top fastener on each side will hold it. -
Nice ! Let's meet up some time. I hope we can get a Ga. Tn. and surrounding states fly in done this summer. Georgia used to do one monthly. Five years ago we had one at Pigeon Forge, the museum and had 15 or so Mooney's.

Anyone ever depart and turn 45 from the runway after a reasonable altitude ? Then if you have the need to go back , and want to turn back, it lessons the turn needed. Sometimes I will do this at the home base. Rarely away from home unless I'm pretty familiar with the airport.

Loosen every fastener except the top rear on each side. All except those two can be loosened and the cowl stays in place with just a little bottom center pressure for safety (not necessary though) Then kneeling on one side undo that fastener, come down behind/under the prop while holding upward pressure at the bottom, on the knees slightly on the other side and undo that fastener, upward pressure still has the cowling in place. Both hands supporting the cowling and lower it down, Back into place is almost a reverse procedure. Get those two back top fasteners in and then gentle pressure will allow to get the other rear fasteners in. The hardest thing going back on is keeping the two rubber hoses sticking thru the hole. Really, I had rather do it myself (no surprise there) that way you don't have two people fighting each other.

Tony Armour replied to Bravoman's topic in General Mooney Talk
Great news, Bravoman's new engine arrived and he will be back in the air soon ! -
Annunciator Circuit Breaker Problems
Tony Armour replied to Irish's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
I had that exact issue but it was an aluminum panel standoff/spacer. Very hard to see, it was in between rows of breakers. -
I'll agree that if you want to start that debate then take it to another thread. No need hashing it out here. I mean are you looking for a fight ? Out of the blue you have to bring this up ? Really !

I think most know by now but I only reposted from another forum (the post was made by the person on site of the accident) Since I wasn't too far away I sure did think back to exactly where I was and what I was doing. Just a horrible accident and at first look maybe could have turned out better.
