Ovation N357A, anyone on Mooneyspace ?
Tony Armour replied to Tony Armour's topic in General Mooney Talk
I also landed at Xo1 Everglades earlier today. Due to the 10 knot cross wind and little strip I was just going to fly over it and check it out but once there I couldn't help myself -

Considering to move to Florida, Naples area
Tony Armour replied to MooneyBob's topic in General Mooney Talk
I am in Naples now, departing tomorrow. Waaaaay busier area than I thought it would be, traffic. More little jets coming and going than I have seen anywhere in 20 years. Cheap AV gas though, great FBO too. Everything in the areas I have been to are beautifully landscaped. Read today, Naples is one of the wealthiest cities in the country. The second highest proportion of millionaires per capita in the US and has the sixth highest per capita income. Real estate is some of the most expensive in the country. I have never seen this many Ferraris riding around....lots of old folks. I'd leave NJ in a heartbeat for Florida though ;-) -

What does everyone use for winds ? I've gotten lazy and have only been looking at what Foreflight says. I should at least verify it. I used to just go by Duats. Here is my trip down Thursday. Maybe a 5-6 knot push. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N40ZM -
Chasing me down to Naples Florida today. Pretty impressive 1000nm+ at 190+knots. He would have had a touch of tailwind but not a lot, 6-7kts ? http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N357A/history/20161103/1540Z/KMQJ/KAPF I know its just normal Mooney performance. After all the years I'm still impressed though.

I would stay with folks that have done this before. Cole Aviation would be a good start. I also have info on a guy at LZU (I think) that used to work at a Mooney Service center in Atlanta. Just him in a single large hanger. I have been to his shop and was impressed with the cleanliness and equipment. Not sure of his speed brake experience.

I have looked and looked for the post. This one is for obstacle. Not sure if that's what he needed or not. https://www.cirruspilots.org/copa/non_member/marketplace/f/13/t/155132.aspx

Lynx 9000+ installation and box price
Tony Armour replied to MyNameIsNobody's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
I love my Lynx 9000 but now or in the future don't bet your life on "only" the traffic it sees. I have the + antenna and need to proceed with the active traffic. Also still have my Zaon too but it will not show 1080 out transponders. Not sure if it has been mentioned but a 9000 can be upgraded to a 9000+ by purchasing the code to punch in. So a later upgrade is easy. I would do the Lynx again tomorrow ! -

I missed the first turn point to the west by 1,000' now I know why we couldn't see the field, we were over it. It has trees north and south so you can't see it until overhead ..... To the left or right. The bad thing is we flew over this the evening before on the way in. Then after finally finding it, flew toward it from race direction and said ok, there are the ponds and there's the field...."got it" Haha I hope everyone forgives me since I still flew for a mile before turning ! Ron, don't listen to any tips I give !
-
Oh yea, kinda embarrassing but I did 202mph. Missed one turn meaning really really wide and ended up climbing to 5,000' which was a mistake. My turbo will haul, but it shines at altitude and that's not so great on this type of race. Even with my mistakes I figure it didn't cost but 3 or 4 mph at most ?

If Mooney guy and submarine captain doesn't ring a bell then they probably don't know him I bet some of the older Mooney guys know who he is. That's all I've got -
This one is near me. Not sure if advertised elsewhere. It does have A/C https://chattanooga.craigslist.org/for/5747960664.html

He was a Mooney pilot. He was the Captain of a Submarine. I once had him come up to north Georgia to a Mooney fly-in/BBQ where he spoke. VERY interesting stuff. I just can't remember his name.....that's was 12 or so years ago. Weather was horrible so we only had a few folks there. Anyone know who I am asking about ?

Bruce also has a crack/hole repair kit that he put together. I saw it at the Mooney summit and was very impressed.
-
Same here. I liked EVERYTHING they had to say. I understand the possible conflict being on the same field but after talking with these two guys for a while and doing the Mooney walk around with them I would feel very comfortable with them doing the prebuy.

29.5 gallons and above. That's nice but it's the "below" 29.5 gallons that will kill you

I think he is in a Bravo, not a Rocket (I was confused too) my first thoughts would also be the turbo or turbo related. I would of course look at the spark plugs and I would dang sure keep a regular check on the turbo bearings (shaft wobble)
