I don't have one but here's what their website says http://ultimatedoorseals.com/repairs.html By the way, do you like it? Is there noticeable difference?

I think you'll find something that will work here: http://sloanled.com/indicators/downloads/SloanLEDIndicatorsCatalog.pdf

Garmin GPSmap 696 vs Aera 796
LANCECASPER replied to jkhirsch's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
I have owned both the 696 and 796. The 796 is hands down the best portable on the market. I like my iPad for a lot of things but the 796 is designed for aviation and very intuitive. In 10 minutes you have everything it can do figured out. The geo-referenced approach plates are excellent. I have in connected to a GDL39D and the synthetic vision is great. I used my yoke mount and mounted it on my center post - not ideal but OK. My only complaint is that a subscription for approach plates is too expensive. -
I just had something similar happen to an Ovation2. I tried cleaning the contacts but the best I could get was intermittent trim in one direction. There are three little switches within that one trim switch assembly. The bad news . . . Bendix King wants $1300 now for that switch assembly. The good news . . . Doug at Central Texas Avionics in Georgetown TX replaced the three microswitches and adjusted the metal springs. It was four hours labor and $75 for the 3 switches but a lot less than $1300 plus installation.

The last airplane (Encore) I had I replaced two landing lights with Aero LED LX- huge difference from the GE - was very satisfied. On current airplane (Ovation 2) it had stock lights so I just recently compared Aero LED to the Teledyne Alphabeam and I like the Alphabeams better. I bought four of them from Spruce - they discounted to about $255 each. Either the Aero LED or the Alphabeam are great if you are going into an airport at night that is not very well lit. This is a safety upgrade - you can leave them on all the time for recognition lights with their low current draw and long life. I never use my wingtip recognition lights any more (they are prone to melting the lenses they get so hot).

It's well worth it to hook up a Battery Minder while you are in there. You can buy a Y connection and an extra cord so that both batteries are being charged and desulfated at the same time. I plug it in as soon as I put it back in the hangar and unplug just before the next flight. Just make sure you get the right model Battery Minder for the batteries (usually S-2 suffix for Gill and S-5 suffix for Concorde sealed). You can reasonably expect 50%-100% longer battery life if you use one of these, plus the peace of mind in knowing that you have two fully charged batteries before every flight.

This guy is around Austin but does touch-ups on small planes and jets. Mark Lauck - his number is 512-587-5748. He has done work in the location of customers before. I haven't had him do anything for me, but he comes recommended by Central Texas Avionics at Georgetown, which I highly recommend.

Ferry Delivery pilot?? My plane is left in Nevada
LANCECASPER replied to carl's topic in General Mooney Talk
Bob Cabe delivered many new airplanes for Mooney. He's a great instructor also. (210) 289-5375. He's based out of San Antonio. -
The LED map lights came in from Aircraft Spruce and I replaced the pilot's side. Make a big difference in the amount of light plus should never have to be replaced. Next I want to replace the one in the Gear Down indicator.

I did, but the only one that they have that has the correct base is this one: https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/subminiature-bulbs/led-product/11/ It should work for Mooneys with 12v systems, but I couldn't find one for 24v, which is what I needed.

In 2004 I believe the instrument panel was also lowered for the DX model. However if you decide on any DX be cautious of ones that still have Moritz engine/fuel/vac, etc, gauges. Moritz is no longer in business and there is no support. The instruments start to go one at at time. There's a company in FL that was working on them but the cost was prohibitive. http://mooneyspace.com/topic/13382-moritz-gauges/?hl=moritz http://mooneyspace.com/topic/11475-moritz-cht-gauge-inop/?hl=moritz http://mooneyspace.com/topic/1751-moritz-panel-weirdness/?hl=moritz What some have done is take out the Moritz gauges and install a JPI EDM 900 or 930 or an equivalent instrument certified as primary. Figure on a minimum of $10,000 to do this, plus recutting a new panel. So if this hasn't been done it may be something that will need to be done. If you find one with a new primary engine monitor then they have probably re-worked the panel and have upgraded other things as well. I fly a 2000 Ovation 2 and the panel had been done by the previous owner.

Here's I think the latest of many posts on the subject: http://mooneyspace.com/topic/13624-waas-update-for-2005-6-7-mooneys/?hl=g1000#entry176562

11-09629
-
Ok, I'll answer my own question. It looks like this part number (11-09629) from Aircraft Spruce (LED Replacement) will replace the map lights in the yoke and the landing gear indicator light on the floor also. I'll know for sure when I get them in a few days.

Any idea what the GE or led part number is on this bulb?
-
Yes, from 30 gallons down they are fairly accurate.

You asked, "How many people actually used the battery?", implying that it has no value. I simply answered your question by saying, "Exactly 100% of the people that have an electrical failure that have a battery for their GDL 39." Sorry you had an electrical failure but glad you're here to tell about it. The point that I was making is that if you have the GDL-39 battery if you have the electrical failure you are certainly going to use whatever you have available, including that battery, to get to, and safely land at the nearest airport. You didn't have the battery so you weren't part of the group to which I was referring. To make a long post even longer, I wasn't trying to be sarcastic, all I was saying is that like most items related to safety you only have to use it once to have made it worth whatever you paid for it.

Midwest Mooney 310HP STC conversion question
LANCECASPER replied to Robert C.'s topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Definitely not the really light (Acclaim) prop - the one that's designed to lighten your wallet at the same time. The previous owner had installed the Hartzell PHC-J3YF-1RF prop. I'm assuming that this is the "thin" one that you are referring to. The original prop on this airplane in 2000 was the 2 blade McCauley which I understand was great for cruise but not for take-off and climb. -
It looks like Continental still supports the TSIOL-550 engines. Maybe Mooney could use the liquid cooled 350hp engine to get the Acclaim to 250kts. http://www.continentalmotors.aero/uploadedFiles/Content/xHome/Billboards/500series_032012.pdf

Midwest Mooney 310HP STC conversion question
LANCECASPER replied to Robert C.'s topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
I just had this done this past week to an Ovation 2 that already had the correct 3 blade scimitar prop. It already had the Moritz gauges replaced with a JPI EDM 930. It cost $6750 for the STC paperwork, $912 for a complete prop governor overhaul and to have the spring changed, it cost a couple hours labor for my A&P to communicate with JPI to get and install the new settings for the EDM 930 so that it now goes to 2700 rpm (it also shows the STC # next to the tail number at the bottom of the JPI 930 now) and a couple more hours for him to change the fuel flow settings, etc. I have only had one flight so far, but you definitely notice the extra hp on take-off and climb out. -
SOLD My new airplane has active traffic so I don't need this set-up any more. ZAON XRX PCAS WITH A CABLE SET UP TO INTERFACE WITH GARMIN 795 OR 796 TO SHOW ACTIVE TRAFFIC. THE PCAS WAS SENT BACK TO ZAON TO HAVE IT SET UP AS A REMOTE UNIT SO IT COMES ON WHEN POWER IS APPLIED. THEY ALSO TWEAKED THE DIP SWITCH SETTINGS SO THAT THE TRAFFIC ONLY DISPLAYS ON THE GARMIN NOW AND NOT ON THE ZAON ITSELF. THE MANUAL SHOWS ALL OF THE DIP SWITCH SETTING POSSIBILITIES AND IT CAN BE CONFIGURED HOWEVER YOU WOULD LIKE IT. The Interface cable powers both with one cigarette lighter plug. NEW, THE XRX PCAS WAS $1595 AND THE GARMIN CABLE WAS $189 (http://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/product/17033) ($1784 TOTAL). BOTH IN EXCELLENT CONDITION - WILL SELL BOTH FOR $575 SHIPPED contact me offline at lancecasper@me.com Info about the XRX PCAS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nJDuIT6FIw Here's the ZAON PCAS displaying traffic on a Garmin 496 - (it is much better on the 796): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3spfMvrr3Ec
