TruTrak Autopilot Pre Order's / Status Update

I spoke to the Trio guys a few years ago at KOSH about using mine as a certification prototype, we had several Conference calls after, and then crickets. I’d heard from another mooney guy he had the same results. It seemed a little off to me, like they got a prospect, but didn’t know what to do with it. -

I see corrosion on a lobe, factor an overhaul into the price. It might last a while, or not. AP/IA and M20C driver / owner

I have a McFarlane throttle cable with the microswitch cutout made by them in my 62C. The barrel where the gear warning microswitch switch mounts is 1/2" I sent my old cable to them to replicate. It was a pretty painless process. I agree, that it wouldn't take much to keep the specs to make them from, but this might be a touchy area being they are making a replacement part to your specs, and not a PMA'd part.

JPI engine monitor for 66 E
Lionudakis replied to ReconJon's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I've installed many JPI700, 730,830's over the years, and many have been upgraded to the 900's to free up panel space, get more functions, and many other reasons. The point being, you'll eventually wish you did ; at least most do. To each his own. I have a 900 in my own, and after a fuel gauge went TU, I did the upgrade and Cies fuel sensors. It is well worth the money. -
Just got my renewal, Wow !! Mine Jumped 28% , before I added another 10k to the hull value.

Removing the Windshield mounted OAT gauge
Lionudakis replied to redcatcher27's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I just finally removed mine off the windshield, I used a small countersunk washer outside with a flush screw, a thin nut on the inside with another countersunk washer, a little silicone between them. Hardly noticeable compared to the short probe and indicator on the inside. I have a JPI900 and aspen E5 with OAT. -
Push pull flap release cable inner wire needed
Lionudakis replied to Nukemzzz's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
PART NUMBER 05-14300 cable assembly (knob, outer and inner cable) from Aircraft Spruce has an inner 0.055 cable. 8 footer is 20 bucks. Use the whole thing or just the inner. Its cheap enough -
High CHT, 470 degrees +.
Lionudakis replied to ragedracer1977's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Mine was modded to the "M" around 8 years ago, before I had a fuel flow so I don't have a side by side. Mine flows 18 normally. I do not remember where I'd read or heard the numbers back then. -
High CHT, 470 degrees +.
Lionudakis replied to ragedracer1977's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I might have missed it if already mentioned, There is a mod to the carb that adds an "M' to the part number, and brings fuel flow up to around 18-18.5. From TCDS.. Carburetor MA4-5, Flow Setting P/N 10-3878, 10-3878-M, or 10-4164-1). -
TruTrak Autopilot Pre Order's / Status Update
Lionudakis replied to Jeev's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
There is a "track" that is selected by degrees, in track mode, which is more the intent of the heading bug i think. If coupled with an aspen, the heading select, among other functions are pushed to the autopilot. This is all from what I've read, I'm currently installing an Aspen, and prewiring for TT/BK autopilot. -
Has anyone had a complete engine failure ?
Lionudakis replied to spokewrench's topic in General Mooney Talk
My wife and I were headed back from anniversary weekend in Fredricksburg TX June 2016. 20 minutes or so into the trip home to Houston around 9000 ft, a very slight buzz emerged and continued. It could be felt and heard but ever so slight, the sudden onset is why it caught my attention. 5 minutes later it increased instantly, now my wife noticed it. I pushed in the prop a little, mixture in slightly, left mag, right mag, everything behaved as expected, this continued for another few minutes. Then the engine felt as if it was coming off the nose it shook violently, i pulled the power out and it continued to shake but not near like the speed bumps we just hit at highway speeds. I got an immediate heading from center and pointed the nose to Giddings TX on glide speed. Several minutes later, on a long base leg, the airport was in sight, i pushed the throttle in to see what it had left if any, as soon as the RPM started to increase the vibration took over. At least i knew i had a small shot of power if needed, but it wasn't much. Non event landing other than the engine loping badly, it barely made enough power to taxi to the ramp (i figured we were on the ground, and it was already broke) The local mechanic helped me open the cowl to investigate, #3 cylinder was being held on by the baffle and intake/exhaust. all the studs were broken, and some of the nuts were laying in the bottom of the cowl. I was amazed that cause the engine to shake so bad. The mechanic / shop owner / and airport manager set me up in, and let me use a brand new unrented hangar June through October during the overhaul. He refused anything for it, and said he was glad he could help out. There are good people out there -

TruTrak Autopilot Pre Order's / Status Update
Lionudakis replied to Jeev's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Great way to put it. It did exactly that ! -
I glad I came across this thread ! I've been chasing this similar issue down for a few years now. I installed my JPI900 in 2014, and never really took the bird on a trip, or over 3000ft for that matter until 2016 when I noticed low and decreasing FP around 5k ft, low enough to trigger the warning light for the 900. Down low the pressure is normal/acceptable. The higher I go the lower the pressure, The pressure increases on descent, regardless of power. It is more reactive to altitude than anything. I replaced the mechanical and electric pump and thought i had it, but it still does it, and its not consistent. I've vacuumed leak checked and pressure checked the lines from the carb to tanks as a whole, looking for air leaks. nothing. I'm stumped other than the mechanical pump. The electric does bring the pressure back up some I'm throwing on a new, not overhauled engine driven pump on this week while working on other things in hopes I got a defective overhauled one.

TruTrak Autopilot Pre Order's / Status Update

Same boat here. I went for an aspen I'm putting in right now. I asked about buying a GFC500 (assuming it beat TT to market) from a local dealer and doing most of the work myself as an ap/ia, and sign it off. No way Garmin will allow that, nor the dealer. I'll wait for TT -
A little late here.. Did the snubber resolve this issue?? I'm still chasing my intermittent high / low pressure anomaly. I'm at a loss

TruTrak Autopilot Pre Order's / Status Update
Lionudakis replied to Jeev's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Same as many I presume, I gave up hope for now. My money went to Aspen last week. If the trutrak certification is sitting on the FAA's desk, we all know how fast that operation works. I'm hopeful, but realistic I still wish we could move a certified plane into a different category, and maintain/modify to experimental standards. Wishful thinking -
Another aircraft using my ADSB out code?

Someone in south america dings my tail number N51CT. They're usually around 240kts at 20k.... I wish -
Bart, That is WAY to high.I've installed 3- 900's in addition to mine, as well as countless 730/830's. They can eat up some time, but nothing near what they're wanting. I also just moved my 900 from where your RPM is, to my center stack above the radio (just because I could) It was plenty view able in either landscape or portrait on the right panel.

Sweet ! Lionudakis crew will be late. We’ll be at fondulac ready to launch into KOSH as soon as airshow is over.

Whole family going. Chris Lionudakis, Lindsay, Caleb and Cody. Thank you for setting this up !!

Thanks for input. Since installing my JPi I hadn’t gone very high ( shorty trips), until last year. The fuel pressure drops slowly as I climb, by around 6k ish it’s at zero and my Jpi starts flickering between zero and and X’ing out. As I descend will slowly come back by the same altitude and be back to normal. I just don’t remember it being that low back when I had the old gauge. Electric pump changes nothing.
