  1. Got the engine mostly tore down last night, I was really amazed what it looks like in side. Initial glance doesn't look that bad! I took a crap ton of pictures, will post them later. Going to finish tearing it down and separating the case!
  2. I know on my C, i just recently had my senders overhauled. I used Lockhaven in PA. You can test your senders yourself before you send them off. What i would do is test the senders first then you know its the gauge.
  3. Well if you have followed me and my story of N3638H, then you would know we have had one learning experience together. Well, to my luck, it is time to do compression tests and open up the engine. I feel the prop is to easy to turn by hand and lack of flight has also added on my conscience among other things. So, that being said, with the insight of my IA, my wife and I are going to break her down and ship her out for inspections and rework on the internals. I will post pictures of this process under this forum. I feel this will be a learning situation for all of us who argue about sitting engines versus flying. Unfortunately, i am the guinea pig in this situation. So if you have questions or comments let me know and I will check this thread as much as I can. I can assure you, due to my budget and other squawks on the Mooney, the engine will be done by Feb. Very Respectfully, Philip and Michelle Neeper N3638H
  4. An A&P can do it for you
  5. Went to a local fsdo and did an interview for my tickets (8610-2) then I studied using the asa amt app. Went to a school up in Eastman, ga and did all my writtens and then my hands on with a DME. Started Monday, A&P qualified Friday night. I had a 11 hour oral and practical.
  6. I'm trying to get mine fixed as well! Lol

  10. Hello mooneyspacers, Sorry i was gone for so long and I'm sure i missed so much; however, Im finally an A&P! Just a huge milestone I reached and very happy and I felt like I needed to tell everyone... thanks guys !
  11. I used an etch primer to protect against corrosion. Here at work we use it on the A/F and sometimes epoxy primer. I don't live near a boat store or I would use Zinc Chromate.
  12. Hello my mooney friends. As you know, I probably have one of the longest projects or what I like to call flying projects, known to man. Just wanted to post my repainted wheels and new brake rotors for you all to see. Also, been troubleshooting a nav light issue and comes to find out, my mooney has two cannon plugs in the wings for the nav/strobe assy. That being said, I have one where it enters the cabin by the leading edge and then another on in the access panel just outside the gear. Long story short, a pin backed out. SO im glad that is all fixed. Anyways enjoy the pictures.
  13. I really wanted the 58 but like you said, they are done. My dream list is 60's, c12's (king air), 47, 64. And I would love to come back to this unit as well. But Nov is the game changer. BTW, im pretty sure you can be classified as a limo driver.... just saying.
  14. I used to be a ground guy back in the day, now I'm a engine guy. Looking to being a driver here soon, hopefully nov will yield FQ-S status for me
  15. Oh, Campbell. May I ask who you are with there?
  16. Why would it not help? IT would cycle the oils; I know it will have to be more than 10 minutes....
  17. If you were close to me, I would help you out.
  18. I got lucky on my plane. It say 14 yrs when I bought her and then off and on for long periods of time... There are high metals in the last oil sample due to my deployments and try trips. I agree with danb, cam guard and dehumidifier. If you have someone close or trust they could start it up for you.
  19. pictures? Very interested
  20. I have a 78 C, and if you hold the Flap switch in the up position you will hear the motor due to you closing the circuit and providing power to the motor. However, my flap switch has down, up and off. 3 way switch.
