Yep. That's what he called it. It locates precious metals for mining sites.

C206 pulls up next to me at the Fallon NV airport this morning. I couldn't resist asking the pilot what's that thing mounted to the back of his plane. I thought I'd post it on Mooneyspace and see if anyone would know what it is.

There's some listed on Ebay but they are asking $60-$100 for them.

If your battery box is up front, then it needs to be removed to get access to the oil cooler hoses.

Maybe they've confused your ancient panel for a Garmin G1000. Attached is VERF from AOPA. Looks like $25,410 MOONEYMARK 20M20 A.pdf- 76 replies

Mine does the same on climb out and cruise after turning off the electric pump. Sometimes I turn my electric pump on for a few seconds when I see the mechanical pump pressure is going low which in turn seems to keep the mechanical pressure higher.

Mooney Soft field takeoff on FailArmy at 4:53

Now all they need is for the 10 men to bend the propeller back to it normal shape and the Mooney can fly away. -
It would be a rush. Especially if a F-15 passed you by at near super sonic speed. I have flown into black canyon south of hoover dam above the Colorado river. Kind of a eerie feeling thinking if the engine stops then the only option is ditching in the river.

Controller brings C208 down safety
kerry replied to kerry's topic in Mooney Safety & Accident Discussion
It's from the movie flyboys from a few years ago. I haven't heard anything from the 2 passenger from the C208 and I was thinking they might have the same reaction as the 2 boys if they were interviewed. -

It never crossed my mind. But it wouldn't surprise me now that you mentioned it. At times the passengers radio work seemed a bit to polished for a novice. -
Plane lands safely after possible pilot medical issue (wpbf.com) The outcome amazes me. Good job ATC. I can't wait to hear the details.

Obviously the right man for the project. He knows what he's doing. I applaud you.

If you can't get a Concorde you might want to try a sealed Gill. I've had my sealed Gill for over a year with no issues. If I recall I think it was about $100 less than the Concorde at the time.

I would also say no flaps with increased approach speed. If you get a wind shift at a lower speed it could equal trouble.

I currently have a A model. My dad had a C model with hundreds of hours when I was a kid. When trying to add my dad to the A model policy the insurance company required 10 hours in make and model. They wouldn't execpt C model hours.

N6018X - Anyone know more about this accident?
kerry replied to corn_flake's topic in Mooney Safety & Accident Discussion
I remember when this accident occurred. Besides the engine going out my take a way's were the likely hood of the passenger surviving the crash if shoulder harnesses were present. Also I would have kept my gear retracted when ditching in the desert. -
I called a friend in Las Vegas. He drove to Shoshone and brought a used tube and tire. I had a few tools in the airplane. I got the wheel off while waiting for my friend to arrive from Vegas. It's amazing the things you can find in the desert. I found a metal bar and a few railroad ties. The bar was inserted into the tube of the main landing gear above the tire. I lifted the wing by using my back near the wing tip under the spar while my passenger slid the railroad ties under the bar. It turned out to be a good wing jack. A local gas station had a air supply to fill the tire.

Maybe I should of said minimal value. Personally I prefer a wood wing Mooney but the general aviation population does not. That's why you can get a wood wing Mooney for $20,000 or less. I'm just trying to give an overall perspective on the market values a M20A's. If a wood wing Mooney is listed for $36,000 most will pass and pay the extra cash for a M20C. Which is a great deal for those that want a M20A.- 76 replies

Any "Woody" Owners out there? (M20 & M20A)

I would(no pun intended) say the wing and airframe has zero valve. Someone stated in a earlier post that someone was giving a M20A away for free. You have a higher time engine with a value of 8-10K and a propeller of 6-8K. If you have basic avionics then I would put the valve at 18k or less. It's a good value if the plane in is decent shape.- 76 replies

I'm on my 3rd A model. I can say my previous A models were slower than my present A. I would think it would be because of rigging. My present A flies really nice where my past A's had a heavy wing and I could never rig them to fly straight hands off. Also my present A has a plexiglass cover over the landing light. The air inlet on the right side has been recessed and I also have the Top Prop propeller. I'm not sure if it those upgrades have any benefit or not.- 76 replies
