  1. I've been told if you hit a dog then the dogs owner is responsible for the repairs. I wonder if the same holds true for the cattle owner.
  2. I have a Lancair 235 I've been working on for the past year. Last weekend I took a ride in a 235 and pilot/owner was discussing maintenance he does on his plane. One thing I found interesting was that because the side windows and bubble canopy aren't manufactured anymore and would be difficult to replace, he applies PVC release film on his plexiglass for protection. His side windows and canopy look spectacular. I searched the internet for anyone using PVA release film on plexiglass but found nothing. I was wondering if anyone on Mooneyspace has used or heard of using this stuff for this purpose.
  3. My pathfinder works great when selecting the wing leveler option. I always remind my wife to push the wing leveler button if I ever pass out.
  4. It will be interesting to see how that turbo will fit in front of the Mooney firewall.
  5. Birds don't like bright mirror reflections. You can try something like a disco ball mounted somewhere.
  6. I have to undo my shoulder harness to switch tanks but that's part of my planning when in flight.
  7. N1960 has a Brittain Accu-Flite. I believe Dan Morris installed it. I think Dan is on Mooneyspace. If you can contact him then maybe he can give you some details on how he did it. N1960 | 1960 MOONEY M20A on Aircraft.com
  8. I have a Pathfinder P2A in my M20A. It was done with field approval by previous owner. There are M20A that came from the factory with autopilots but probably not what you're looking for.
  9. You can hire a cabinet maker to rebuild the wing. I'm pretty sure there would be a of fabrication work involved trying to install a metal wing. If you're going to convert to a metal wing, then you would want a M20B wing. Both A and B share manual flaps.
  10. I know a couple of local IA that have access to KHND. If you PM me I'll give you their contact info if needed.
  11. I saw a Mooney that had a gear up landing and when the belly pan was removed you could see the springs ground down from the payment. The airplane was repaired and put back into service without replacing the springs. I didn't say anything but I sure thought the springs should have been replaced. Do these springs break. With Mooney models going back to the late 50's I would think there would be spring failures.
  12. If transitioning from the East over Lake Mead to KVGT you can request bravo clearance and ask for the strip tour. They route you to the Tropicana hotel West of the Strip and take you to the Stratosphere then turn you over to the North Las Vegas airport. It depends on how busy they are and what runways they are landing at LAS. Flying West 10 miles of the Las Vegas is Red Rock which is very beautiful and specatular.
  13. I took a basic tablet case I got from ebay and modified it with a ball mount and stitch it up with an awl. It might look a little rough but has served me well.
  14. It must be Dr. Rima Laibow's airplane.
  15. What oil level do you keep in your sump. I try to maintain 5-6 quarts. My understanding is anything above 6 quarts ends up on the belly.
  16. I sent my old cable to Dicks speedo tach in Tempe AZ and they made me a new cable that works fine. I first tried the cable aircraft spruce sells which did not work. Spruce gave me all kinds of grieve trying to return it.
  17. With those skills you should be flying a wood wing Mooney.
  18. I recently purchased a Lancair 235/320. I'm in the process of getting it airworthy. It's seems similar to the Glasair. I'm in about the same boat as you with time in the Mooney. All the reading I've done on the Lancair makes me a bit nervous in the transition. When I get ready to fly it I hope I adapt as well as you have.
  19. Panthera. I sat in one and it was the most beautiful plane I've ever seen, and the performance is very impressive.
  20. I had my door pop open once. I don't think I had it completely latched. I was about 30 minutes into my 1.5 hour flight. It didn't concern me much because it was only opened maybe an inch. When watching your video I was surprised to see how far your door opened with it moving in and out. Maybe my top latch still engage a bit. I wanted to say you handled the situation with great skill. Thanks for the post.
  21. Should have made it retractable with a J-bar manual gear.
  22. I bought a Lancair 235 with a IO-320. Has a MT electric constant speed prop. I'ts been sitting in a hangar not flying for 12 years. I'm in the process of doing all the things to get it flight worthy. I've contacted a CFI with Lancair time to check me out when the time comes. I was wondering if anyone on Mooneyspace has had Lancair 200-300 type experience and how it compares to flying short body Mooney's.
  23. Call Luky's Hardware in Burbank CA. They will have them ready in a few days.
  24. After you jack your plane up then place 32'' saw horses under the main spar 24'' outboard of the mains.
  25. Yep. That's what he called it. It locates precious metals for mining sites.
