  1. I vote for B&C. It's the most durable of all the options. The negative I hear about it is if you have kick back it could damage your engine. I've never had my engine kick back, but I'm happy with it. Install was very easy.
  2. This airspace is continuously hot. Groom Lake area 51.
  3. I was curious if anyone knows why a TFR would be issued in restricted airspace. There's a TFR approximately 35 miles East of the BTY VOR which is in the middle of R-4808 N. Seems strange since no one can fly in this area anyway.
  4. My handle was just to worn out and no matter what I tried it couldn't fit snug. I found this window crank handle on eBay. It came with a quite a bit of hardware. It almost seemed like it was designed for the Mooney door.
  5. I have a polished one also. PM me if you're interested.
  6. The shop in Texas I linked up still makes up cables.
  7. Seems like the window in the nose gear would have evolved to the M20.
  8. I sent my old cable to this shop and they made one up for me that works great. https://www.texasindustrialelectric.com/speedo.asp Previously I bought one from Spruce and it did not work.
  9. I hit a 1000 at last renewal and my rate was lowered.
  10. I have 2 scooters I put in the back of my short body. They are our primary transportation at many airports. Voro motors E cruisers. Top speed is 30 MPH and range is close to 60 miles. 50 lbs per scooter. They should fit much better in a long body. After 2 years of use I've been very happy with them.
  11. My renewal did about the same thing this year. They gave me the option of keeping the same hull coverage for a significant lower premium or increase my hull value with the premium going down a few hundred dollars.
  12. Anyone know the part number for a gasket between the carb and carb box.
  13. I just called the Parowan airport and they told me the eddy current person retired. Sorry
  14. Lone Mountain Aviation at VGT use to do it. The last time I did it before I got my Top Prop I flew into Parowan Utah 1L9. I removed the spinner and I think it was about $100.
  15. No. I was given this info when I inquired about the NOTAM from the person working behind the desk at the terminal building.
  16. To my pleasant surprise my insurance company gave me 2 options at my last renewal time. 1st option was to keep my current hull coverage and lower my annual premium by $400. 2nd option was to increase my hull coverage by 40K for an additional $200 per year. I decided to increase my hull coverage. I recently broke 1000 hour TT. I was thinking maybe that had something to do with it.
  17. Did you take the train up to Silverton when visiting Durango? We did it last month. Was spectacular.
  18. I would try Horton Aviation out of North Las Vegas. The owners son who works there has a F model he recently purchased and is restoring. If you walk in their hangar and talk with him I'm sure he would be happy to help you out with any questions or repairs.
  19. I wanted to give a heads up to anyone wanting to visit Vegas between Oct 2023 through Feb 2024. Landing fees at KVGT and KHND are going to be increased. On a recent briefing I got a NOTAM saying you need to call and prearrange in order to land at KVGT for transit aircraft. I'm based at VGT so it doesn't apply to me. I was in the terminal building today and inquired about the NOTAM. I was told starting this Oct. landing fees will be $500 per day because of the new Sphere attraction opening. When Formula 1 starts fees will be $3000 per day. Seems like general aviation is not welcomed in Vegas at this time.
  20. Marker beacon
  21. The teeth on the ring appear to be U shaped which would be 149. V shape has 122 teeth. When I replaced my stater, I decided on B&C. I'm very happy with it.
  22. Aviation Oil Outlet has free shipping on orders greater than $75.
  23. You are correct. Some how I did my math wrong prior to my initial post. It's only $1 savings per quart.
  24. I was wondering if anyone has consider buying their oil buy the barrel. I just did the calculations and if you buy a drum from aviation oil outlet it will save you approx $2/quart. Granted a drum weights 467 lbs, but if you have a place to store it and you buy a $20.00 pump that connects to the drum then it might make sense to buy a drum and refill old quart bottles. Seems like a big savings.
