  1. Quote: ElectronicsInt Greetings gang! I hope you'll permit me to lurk and participate from time to time on your very nice forum. I was made aware of mooneyspace.com in a email to our support dept from Eldon aka jezzie as he has been taking a look at some of our products. Very best regards to you all and I look forward to making some new friends. Very best regards, Matt Sharp

  3. Thanks DaV8or, good report. I also went with the MVP-50 mainly cause of what my avionics shop said, ease of installation. I won't use all that it does but did add the fuel level. Vacuum and airspeed optionsI am still considering. EI people were very helpful, and the AOPA discount helped. Plus they could have it made in a week versus 2 weeks. Eldon Eldon
  4. Quote: jezzie Hi Everyone, Here is a 6 min recording that Jolie and Mitch did at Oshkosh this year. Just another example of the great work that Jolie and Mitch are doing to promote General Aviation. I know the pictures go through OK hoping that this MP3 file does also. Eldon
  5. Anyone who saw the booths at AOPA care to share their impressions/ differences between JPI 930 versus EI's MVP-50 Eldon

  7. Having pushed weather a few times I have come to the following conclusion. " It is better to have turned back or not go as a result of a good decision than to have gotten through with luck"
  8. This is a great advantage having all this experience on this site, so here I go again asking for advice/experience on one analyzer over the other. Main focus is quality and after sales service. I phoned EI and they were very helpful but also higher in price when every thing was considered for a Mooney. JPI's sales manager said that the fuel pressure was included, and I can't remember the specifics from EI. I was at JPI's office yesterday basically to clarify the order and unfortunately some confusion exits. I was happy with my decision to use the 930, but now find that I may have to do some more due diligence and ask more questions. All of your opinions are important Thank you Eldon M20J
  9. Quote: thinwing this is a great mooney site!!!I am new mooney bravo driver, and first thing I did was update the existing 430/530 to waas...than I found out what I could get in trade for existing king hsi/king 256i attitude gyro/garmin cdi etc ...installed g5oo with gad43 to talk to kfc225 auto..threw in a used gdl69a..panel mounted 696..and never looked back...yeah I know it didnot make economic sense, but neither did the a/c in the first place...after 6months/130 hrs...count me a believer...kpc.....Ps..if allsmiles is interested..I have some old hf AN gear I would part with cheap....than he could really brag about using old tech!!!!!
  10. Quote: allsmiles The decision to install glass or not is a classic case of needs vs wants. Do we need glass? No of course not!! The answer is an unequivocal NO. It does not add to safety more than doing what I already mentioned above. Absolutely NOT. If money is not an issue then I guess the sky is the limit. (no pun intended!) Anyone can do whatever they want. But we all know that an owner adding expensive avionics to his airplane today makes no fiscal sense because that money will not be recaptured at sale time, if decides to sell. No sensible buyer is going to pay new cost for used glass or anything else for that matter. The only thing left, then, driving the decisuion is WANT. Some people WANT glass because they think it looks cool. Is this WANT worth thousands and thousands of $. My opinion is no. I personally disagree with that thinking for the reasons I mentioned. It's only my opinion and my way of thinking. Analyze the decision very carefully before jumping onto the bandwagon. Garmin or Aspen or anyone else.
  11. This discussion is very timely, as I am close to adding the G500 to the 530, and other Garmin I'm adding. Then I thought a 696 would be nice. My rebuild has become more involved than I would have wanted. Consider however my 77 J sat out in the elements for over 5 years and the rodent damage to wires was substantial, so I was going to do a lot of work on the panel regardless. The benefit for me is that I will truly have a modern up to date panel that an IFR pilot would appreciate. I am a VFR pilot and used to flying with my attention being more outside the cockpit rather than inside. I have heard some reports that new glass pilots may have developed some bad habits cause they spend more time admiring the new toy almost to a fault. By not having to buy a 696 the extra investment for me is reasonable. Any and all advise or opinions is appreciated. Eldon
  12. I will be in Anaheim for 1 week Oct 26 till Nov 1 and may have some free time. Interested in looking at some Mooneys that are being rebuilt or Mooneys in general in close proximity. Time permitting of course

"500 people, who met on an Internet Bulletin Board, joined with 100+ employees, offered to purchase a non-profit airplane company" 600 new owners keeping Al's legacy in the air...... There is an example of something similar in airport ownership in NJ. Sky Manor (N40). 100 users of the airport purchased the whole thing. (land, runway, buildings, businesses etc...) "The current owner and operator of the airport is Sky Manor Airport Partners,LLC which acquired the property in November of 2008." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_Manor_Airport_(New_Jersey) The "deal" was put together by a core group of people that based there including a lawyer. 14. I have an extra aluminun front window trim from my J model. The Lopresti cowl comes with a new one, so don't need it, I'll try and get a picture posted Eldon
  15. OK I'll continue this thread just a bit. I have been soaking in all the information about analyzers and have been convinced to proceed with either a MVP-50 or a JPI-930. The survey indicated that 10% of you liked the MPV and 13% liked the JPI. I did talk with Dave Campbell at EI and found him very helpful. Evidently you can add on the Vacuum pressure and gear indicators and fuel level module. With these add ons the price would be close to $6000. JPI has a rebate going now and am leaning that way if the basic unit comes with every thing. It appears that the MVP does a little more, so I'm asking for some feedback from those that actually have been using the product. I basically want to replace all the guages including fuel. Your help and advice is appreciated. Eldon
  16. I am in the hunt for a Spinner that would fit a MT 3-blade prop, the one supplied is 13 inch diameter and I need at least a 14 3/8 diameter to fit the Lopresti cowl. If any one has one please email me privately. Thank you Eldon
  17. I was one of the fortunate ones that did get a good deal on a 77 J, and I am finding that I am spending a lot more than I have planned. This is what happens when you like Mooney's. I probably will never get my money back as far as the investment goes, but I will be flying a great airplane for many years, and what price can you put on enjoyment and trying to improve on a good product and building it better than it has to be. I did however tell my AME to smack me on the side of my face if I bring any more add ons!!!
