  1. I always have four things with me/until I go to bed. My Watch (on my left wrist); My cell (in my left pocket); My wallet (in my right pocket); my one hand opening knife (clipped inside my right pocket). It is ALWAYS there if I need it. I rarely do...I will be landing gear-up in the water. I hear ya, but I will be pulling my knife vs. fumbling for a belt cutter in that panic driven scenario...In that perfect storm 99% are dead (flipped plane/stuck buckle)... I still think that way.
  2. But ya can shoot
  3. Not getting the safety belt cutter thing...So when you are down you don't feel you will remember how to unlatch your belt or your co-pilots belt?...and you think it will be easier/quicker to find your handy belt cutter, get it on belt, cut belt and then egress? I do not agree. I am just going to think about landing the plane in the best spot and getting my crew and I the hell out the already popped door. If there is fire...I am NOT going to hunt up and use an extinguisher...I am getting the F&^% out of the plane as fast as I can. Not meaning to be critical...Any and all prior planning and equipment is O.K. by me, but just charting a different course.
  4. My last flight was as co-pilot with my partner. We flew to his home town in Missouri. 9500' just above the tops...Beautiful. Tanks now both re-sealed and altitude hold working great from Brittain. His mom picked us up and loaned us her Lexus for short trip to a beauty of a golf course. Kept it in the 80's and only lost one ball. Quick trip home at 5500 and a little push. Relaxing talk of golf, how great our plane is and how wonderful it is to fly behind a nice panel and squak-free bird. All was right with our world...
  5. UMMM, not so much. So it is not-more room for pilot co-pilot, but a perceived improved "ride" in a J? I did not get that from your first post, but O.K. Good luck with that, Scott
  6. SUPERB video. Thanks for sharing. The starburst with your buddy at the end was perfection! Great stuff. If that doesn't get you fired up for Oshkosh, you don't dig planes....
  7. You just need to modify your desire...How about "Man, if/when they dig up one of those Spits buried in Phillipines...I am getting me one!" How about that?
  8. Come on Nels....Clarification for the gallery please.
  9. "Crickets" from original poster regarding definition of "Comfort"... Someone needs Al's book on their X-Mas list
  10. The question was one relating to Comfort...
  11. HMMMMmmmmm? NOPE, I will sit back and watch the comments here. Popcorn, check. Leather chair, check. Carry on...
  12. Realy sorry to hear this. My thughts are with the pilot and family of passenger...
  13. So as I say...Not as I do Junior.
  14. That's 1AMU newb...Welocme to the Cheap-Bastard's club...
  15. Favorite thing at Oshkosh-other than the Czech Girls...Hearing a P-51 taxi and flyby
  16. Pa Pop pop pop....goes the Merlin
  17. Since I am spending your money. Get a 252. The performance is spectacular, as is the appearance...and the price for entry has not been this low in a LONG TIME. Plane will be better equipped (oxygen/etc.) and with only flying two you can put enough gas for a long mission of fun over the mountains to Vegas, Lake Tahoe etc... Enjoy...and don't mind Caruso...we take turns being grumpy
  18. Tom, I like how you used fantasization in a sentence...Pretty cool, even if you made it up
  19. Owner kicked in 1/2 of the refurb. purchase. I was REALLY glad I had a GPS for trip back from Brunswick, GA to Cedar Rapids.
  20. touche...MINE was a POS. Probably just reflecting on my pattern check-out with purchase. Whiskey compass leaked on return flight and the...dated DG was not functional. The gauge is very small to my eye. A refurbed DG was peanuts and a MAJOR improvement...again, yes in my opinion. I sincerely appologize if you took offense... In your bird it works well with the "vintage" theme. I could not wait to update my panel to a standard six-pack with a standard size and modern type DG....Would I have swapped it immediately if it was still functional...NOPE.
  21. Will the trim go slower/faster as a result of old residue and lack of it? I understand that the system will work harder as a result. I also read that some were experiencing an inability to go to the stops due to build-up. I mis-understood the original posters question. Was the question not "Is Mooney trim supposed to be this "slow" requiring a lot of extended finger-pushing time to get the trim to take-off position and time to cycle for landing"? I have manual trim. There was a binding-manual pressure required-on my trim-wheel that was at the wheel. Jackscrew was adequately greased. There are a LOT of turns after full flaps to neutralize controls. I would love to have the option of left finger/right hand/arm... Enjoy your Mooney. Glad you are doing full stops too.
