  3. I'm sorry, but I must be a complete idiot, but I still can't figure out how to create an album. I just don't get it. Perhaps more step by step procedures are needed.
  4. Great job Craig. Mobile version is great too.
  5. Never have seen any in any Mooney.
  6. Jimmy, I purchased my plane through you and would do it again. I don't have a problem with it but as well will defer to Craig.
  7. I have a Whelen LED PAR46 and love it. I did not see a difference versus incandescent. I leave mine on all the time for recognition. On my 77J it was a simple replacement. I didn't have to remove the cowling.
  8. Quote: oavalle Steve, excelent job! I wish you both a quick recovery. Once again, this only shows how little our media knows about flying and how important it is for us to be able to educate and show them what we are doing.
  9. Just watched the video again. Thanks for sharing and no doubt the PAPI is white/white. Lets face it...we've all done it. A gusty day, blowing you around wanting to hold centerline making adjustments to the wind and you don't flare enough (or at all). It looks like you touched down flat, carrying too much speed and our flying friendly Mooney wanted to continue to fly. You did the right thing and went around. No shame in that and is a sign of a good aeronatical decision. Great video and Carusoam makes a great point about decreasing that nose up condition when you go full power.
  10. Our J is getting the Top Prop put on in the next couple of weeks. They were running special pricing which actually made it comparable to the OEM prop that most have. I will give PIREPS when I get mine.
  11. Quote: Awful_Charlie A criticism would be that it runs damn hot - the metal case is almost too hot to touch when in flight
  12. Quote: rob I think the key information in this thread is that every single Aspen owner who has commented recommends getting one (myself included). The only naysayers are those who do not own an Aspen. I don't know that I have ever read a single account from an Aspen customer where they regretted the purchase.
  13. Don't hesitate. Go with Hector at Aero Comfort. We just had ours done by him. LASAR removed the interior and shipped it to him. We did get a quote from Pine Mountain He does amazing work, but he quoted me over 30 AMUs and it just wasn't worth it IMO.
  14. We're getting ready to purchase the PS-8000BT. Bob, are there any squawks regarding the Bluetooth?
  15. i can try to make it
  16. Craig, thanks again for this great site. Just sent in my funds and I hope any additional donations can continue to fuel this site for many years to come.
  17. I use WnB as well. LOVE IT! Quick and easy. I passed my IFR checkride in March and used it to demonstrate my weight and balance and my examiner thought it was really cool as well and downloaded it right then and there.
  18. We have a 77J and our useful load is 1020.
  19. Here's the Kathrynn Report link. http://www.kathrynsreport.com/2012_05_10_archive.html The survivor is doing well and attended his graduation. It states that after take off he heard the stall horn and then the accident occured. He did not mention any other malfunction.
  20. Jetdriven, I wish I had more info, but honestly my diagnostic abilities and understanding of the mechanics side of things is, at best, marginal. It's something I want to learn more about, but whatever Lycon suggested and did fixed our problem. And how I understood the solution was posted in my previous post.
  21. We have a J and #3 always ran away from us having to open the cowl flas in cruise, etc. We had the baffles checked and made minor adjustments to them. This helped some and kept the temps from climbing too quickly, but we still had trouble with #3 getting away from us. Since it wasn't fixed we took it to Lycon and they ended up concluding that our #3 was running much leaner than the others. Since we have enrichened #3 (and it took 4 sequences each getting better each time) we don't have a problem anymore staying below 360.
  22. Taller seems to better for the Mooney. I'm 5-9 and wished I could find some pedal extensions. My wife won't let me wear my Gene Simons KISS boots.
  23. I'm looking at getting the ADS-B from SkyRadar for Wing X, but I had a few questions: 1) Does Wing X now support traffic? 2) Do we need the dual antennae or just the 978MHz system? 3) If you are using the iPad do you still use the GPS module or does the GPS work directly from the iPad itself? 4) Where have you placed your unit? Hat rack? Under the panel? 5) Are you using the remote antennae setup suction cupped to the back window or other location? Thanks for everyone's help.
  24. I'm sure they will resolve the issue shortly. I'm sticking with my iPad 2. No reason to upgrade from a 2 to the new one for what was offered IMO. From a iPad 1 to a new one, I can see, but not from an iPad 2.
  25. I'm happy, and relieved, to report that as of yesterday I am now instrument rated.
