  1. We have one and have not noticed any condensation. It is a great upgrade and it is much brighter than our original.
  2. If we don't go with Aero Comfort for our new interior we will definitely be shipping our yokes to them!
  3. Rangermb, I had the same experience with All American. We purchased our 77' 201 sight unseen after a pre buy from Don Maxwell's shop. It was well equipped with an Aspen and a 430. They arranged training for us with one of the Mooney test pilots. David told me he was "patient as an oyster" and boy was he especially with me transitioning from a Cherokee 180 and C-172. During our training the trim started to be finicky. They gave us the parts for the new electric trim and we flew back with it and had it installed by our local shop. They paid the whole bill. About a month into ownership we were having a problem with the 430W screen was fading during flight and when we contacted them they shipped us a new one and paid for the installation. Top notch service. We will use them again.
  4. I have no clue as to what Lycon charges. I just know they have many satisfied people at KVIS that will swear by them. I was told that they work with some of the Red Bull racers as well.
  5. Here in Visalia, CA Lycon is an excellent shop.
  6. I'm getting new interior! Also got a creeper for the hangar and some tools. Santa must have thought I was really good this year!
  7. I took my 201 into Taos and it is a non-event. Nice runway, plenty of room and as jlunseth said, the mountains are not a factor.
  8. Ours blows on our 430 and Aspen.
  9. I know it is somewhat bitter-sweet to have to sell the 340, but now it gets fun looking for your 201! Good luck on your pursuit!
  10. I'm based in Visalia and Lycon is a premier shop. We are fortunate to have these guys so close. If I remember correctly, they build engines for the Red Bull team planes.
  11. Nice pick up Jim!
  12. It looks loke a great product. Does it play nicely with the Aspen PFD?
  13. My '77 J's yokes don't have that sharp angle at the bottom.
  14. Ours had some problems due to what we were told was overheating. We noticed problems not at the beginning of the flight, but sometime during the flight. Also, our screen became very faded. We placed a fan unit (not sure of the name or device) behind the panel and that solved the problem.
  15. I've never had any trouble with my Aspen unit. I have another friend who has had their Aspen for 4 years now and never have they had any problems either. One thing is for sure, Aspen stands behind their product and their customer service is great! Parker is right, if you don't have GPSS, Aspen is the way to go.
  16. The shake and undo action was there prior to iOS 5. You can also do it on your iPhone.
  17. The Aspen would be a good upgrade. My Century II AP works with it perfectly.
  18. jlunseth, If it is anything like my issue, any notes, 2Do's, etc, was preserved once I re-downloaded the app. THANKFULLY! I hope your issue is the same.
  19. Thanks txbyker! I just ordered it and it will be here this Thursday.
  20. I just ordered my Whelen LED last week from Aircraft Spruce. They said it was on back order until the end of the month. Does anyone else know where I can pick one up online? Where did you recently get yours?
  21. Quote: carusoam It probably took longer to put the apps back than the operating system upgrade.
  22. Well, I did my upgrade to iOS 5 last night. It only took about 15 minutes, but I lost all of my Apps! Thankfully I was able to retrieve them quickly on the iCloud. I don't know how it worked, but I did not lose any of my data that was on the apps. Everything must have been saved on the cloud somewhere so i was thankful
  23. I have to agree with John on this one. We are talking about training here. How much do we beat up airplanes during our training? Engine out procedures, go arounds, hard landings, etc. are all hard on the airplanes. We sit on this site discussing fuel leaks caused by hard landings so I would expect some issues with your Mooney if you are training with it. I would not want to have my Mooney beat up like that. I would much prefer to rent during training, or at least some of the training, and let someone else's plane take the abuses. I had about 120 hours, mostly in a Cherokee 180, some in a 172 before purchasing my Mooney. The Mooney is different and has a steep learning curve and I can not say that I would want to have learned in THIS plane. Just think soloing for the first time, stressed and coming into land. Is the gear down? Prop set for go around? Why would you even want to have all this complexity when you are learning? I wouldn't, and I didn't. Maybe I'm just too simple of a person. Get some hours in a 172. Rent it and beat up someone else's plane. I had a friend train in a rented 172 then when he was comfortable with landing, etc., in the middle of his training transitioned to a 182. You get increased speed without some of the complexity the Mooney offers. It seemed like a logical transition. JMHO
  24. An A36 would be my first choice.
  25. Thanks Ron. That's who I was hoping you would say. She is GREAT! I had heard nightmares with friends during their checkride, but not with Linda. She was awesome! I'm looking forward taking the IFR from her! By the way, what approaches did she have you do?
