  1. I had a strobe system installed in my F. I believe it was a Whelen system. I have one power supply in the avionics bay. Can you convert your system to do the same? Would be more labor up front for the conversion, probably cheaper than replacing 3 power supplies. If you completed the conversion at annual time, this would cut down some of the time involved. You would lose a little weight. Ron
  2. What did they quote you for the MT prop? I may need to replace mine if I continue with the sale because buyers seem to be paranoid about the EDDY AD.... This and the Top Prop would be on my short list. Brian Brian Can we just replace the hub if our blades are good? My blades were replaced at the last overhaul. Rob
  3. I think that the wings are very similar from the M20B thru the TN. Probably a little beefing over time. If you study the fuselages from the M20B thru the TN, you will notice that the same construction methids were used. They did make tha cages out of thicker steel about midway thru the J production. Note, a gross weight increase then. And of course there is a gear change. But I think that there are not a lot of big changes over the years. Probably son of the MSC will know exactly what changes were made. Ron
  4. I have always enjoyed Oceano airport. Good Food near. Comping on the field. Town is a long walk or short taxi ride. Come to Oceano on Dec 4 for the Mooney Ambassadors and Toys for Tot's. Mooney girls Mooney is normally at Santa Maria. Ron
  5. I installed them in my 69F. They are nice that we can move around in them. The only problem that I have is that I continually knock the reel cover off. They were fairly easy to install, note under supervision of an A&P. Ron
  6. Parker Its a 70 or maybe a 71 Mooney Aerostar. They had the upper stinger and extened rudder. These were for a couple of years at the most. Many have had the stingers removed. Ron
  7. I had this problem on a twin with continentals occasionally. With mixture back and advanced the throttle and the engine would quit. Ron
  8. There is 1 servo in the left wing, and 1 in the tail cone. There are 4 unpainted rivets in the wing due to this install. There could be some on the belly, but the new plate to cover the ADF ant hole is part of this. After removing the PC system, the controls seem lighter. I did a major panel redo and the end weight was very close to the original weight. Useful load changed slightly. Mainly due to removing the 15# ADF. Ron
  9. I installed an S Tec 30 in my F. It works great. I have GPSS, Heading control on the DG and Altitude hold. It will follow the VOR's, heading, Loc or the GPSS. It will not follow the glideslope. My radio shop did not think that the 50 had enough to outclass the 30. Remember the S Tec 50 requires one more hole in the panel. Also see my pictures of the panel. N9154V Ron
  10. I purchased new material fro, Laser when I did my 69F. With the cabin empty, I got a rough measurement and cut large pieces and thenI just sat on the floor and cut the material with sissors and a utility knofe to fine tune them. there are a lot of small pieces. I just filled every nook and crany that I could. I also while I was in there removed any extra wiring, tie wraps etc. the the radio shops had left over the years. Ron
  11. On my 69F, I found the tie down straps under the baggage carpet. They were very ugly. I went to the Home Depot PMA store and bought 2 nice straps for my baggage compartment. It looks much better. Ron
  12. I asked the same question with my avionics. What they told me is that the arm is different because they go by the center of the readio installed. Longer Radios, less arm. Your wight and balance numbers are very close to the W&B for my 69F also. I think that you are good. Enjoy that 430, it is a dream. Ron
  13. Dave I have my 496 on the right and angeled for me. I wish it was in the center stack or on the pilot side. Since you are going to redo the Pilot side also, can you get the 696 on the pilot side panel?? I know, more choices again. Check out my pictures at N9154v and you will see my panel. Looking forward to completion pictures. Ron
  14. When i took my 3 year old Grand Daughter flying this summer for the first time. She used my David Clarks. All heard was "Grampa Can you hear me?" over and over. I finally hit the Isolate button. Since these were local flights, I kept the power down also. She never went to sleep for us, but the ride back to the house, typical kid, out in 30 seconds. I think that I saw that Aircraft Spruce had kids headsets, various colors and that some could be converted later for aduslts. It has been awhile since I looked. I will be watching this thread for my own info also. There was a thread here or MAPA that discussed special harnesses for seat belts when the kids get a little bigger also. Enjoy your new plane, and the family must enjoy it also. Ron
  15. Here is a video that ws made about the Mariposa Flyin. Please enjoy. Thanks to all Ron
  16. I think that we are all dreaming. the demand is not there. Look at the Cirrus Sr 20 vs the SR 22 sales. The 22 has out sold the 20 by 5 to 1. Mooney needs to modernize the construction costs on the hole plane. It can not cost $200,000 extra for a foot longer fuselage and 6 cyl motor with a 3 blade prop, and the G1000 over a cheaper plane. Look at the Eagle, M20s. buyers do not want a low powered basic equiped plane. How many of these now have the Screaming Eagle kit installed and upgraded avoinics. For a plane with less than 50 built and there are over 10% for sale. Those of us that can afford a newer plane do. Those of us that fly Vintage Mooneys, do because of the cost. Many of us slowly put too much money in our Vintage Planes to slowly update them. There are 94 and 95 Vintage 201 for Sale for 150,000 to 180,000 now. they are selling slowly. There is 1 F that is for Sale now that has been for Sale for over 4 years now. Ron with a 69F
  17. When I did some instrument work in my Mooney, the instructor was pregnant. I don't think that noise was a problem. But getting her out of the plane one day was. It took three tries for her to get up and out. I was planning on the fourth to give her a slight push. (Oh Darn) Emergency egress may be a huge problem. Ron
  18. I have seen my A&P replace bladders in Bo's and Aztec's, probably many others. Ron
  19. I was going to buy this plane 4 years ago from the previous owner. He left a real sour taste with me. The motor had 1600 hrs +/-, metal in the filter and metal in the oil sample. I talked with Jimmy since, he told me recent samples were good. The paint, prop and panel have done since. Has not been flown much since. Buyer beware. Ron
  20. Hope to see all Mooney flyers come to the Mariposa airport open house. KMPI in Central CA. Ron
  21. Get the JPI probe installed. Worries are over, you will know. I have one in my F. You will also know during the summer if you are running to hot. Last month at altitude was very hot, I had to open the cowl flaps accasionally to cool the oil. Without the JPI, I would not have known this. Ron
  22. Dave I have this one. Ron 3. YORK GUST-LOKā„¢ York Gust Loks the ultimate protection for your plane from wind and theft. It locks the control surfaces in a neu- tral position and prevents damage to control surfaces & tail caused by wind Gust loads. It is welded steel, fully ad- justable, http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pspages/yorkgustlok.php - 13.4kb 13-00863 YORK GUST LOK MOONEY GRUMMAN $149.95
  23. I ahve a gust lock from Aircreaft Spruce. When I lived in So Cal, we would see wind for 3 days, 60mph+ was probable. This gust lock grabs the rudder pedals and the yoke. Locks all the controls tight. It works great. Ron a 69F
  24. This Apache was for sale at Osh this year, Did it sell? They had some maintenance done at Mariposa last year, it is a very unique plane. Ron
