  1. I have a 430 and a KX155. the 155 is just a nav com #2 radio. I do have a 496 that receives the flight plan and info from the 430, plus XM weather, this is very nice to have. Ron
  2. I can not find any new posts for Re: Panel Changes - Should I put an Aspen in a 65C even though the lists shows that there are some. The last new post on this subject that I can see is July 15. What am I doing wrong? Ron
  3. Also remember 2000 hrs at 160Knots is 320,000 miles. 2000 hrs. at 200 knots is 400,000 miles. You would have to fly roughly 80, 000 extra miles to make the 2000 hrs. You would save approx 400 hours for the same distance. This sounds very interesting, of course you have the up front cost of $50,000 to $60,000 over an overhaul. Ron with a 69F
  4. Garmin is not a monopoly. Other companies have not chosen to cpmpete yet with Garmin. Garmin is the standard, other companies can compete, will there product be better than Garmin, only time will tell. Any one on this list is able to put there money where there mouth is and produce a competing product. Don't have the money, then sell the idea to King, Narco, ARC, Trimble or any other that wants to buy. When Garmin decides, they will produce and updated version of the 430/530. Look at there history with the 196 series, now a 696. We live in a free country, so keep talking, but why don't you compete. Remember when Loran first came out, and the progression that those systems made. There are plenty of cheap lorans available now. Not worth much, but. Personally I like my 430W. Another happy consumer with 4 Garmins. If you want to continue to fly with good and old equipment, it is your choice. Ron
  5. When I talked to Ronnie K____ from Mooney at a Lake Tahoe flyin, he tole me that the factory was looking into total refurb's. They were talking of major work though. They would pull the firwall off the plane, pull the cage and inspect/repair as necessary and reskin parts of the plane. It sounded like you could have a brand new C, E, F, G J, K etc. Cost??? Would it be practical?? Would we pay $150,000 for a brand new F?? Would they be able to completely "0" time the whole plane and call it a 2011 model?? Ron
  6. I found a picture of the interior of my F without the sidepanels. There are 3 structural pieces where the door would go. What the engineering and changes to be required for a second door, I don't have the faintest clue about. I attached a picture, hopefully I did it right. Ron with a 69F
  7. On my JPI 700, they installed a split type probe, so that all cyls and the factory gauge are reading from the same point on each cylinder. I have a stock 69F with the guppy mouth and rarely get over 350 degrees. In fact during the winter I close the cowl flaps even on takeoff, it is hard to get the temps into the green. Ron
  8. I am a licensed Termite Control operator in CA, but the basics should be similar. Spiders are some of the hardest pests to control. Orthomax Home defense should do it, or use Spectracide, available at Home Depot. Spiders can hold there breath for up to 3 days. You must eliminate the food sources for them, ie, the other little bugs around your hanger. With high humidity, it is going to be difficult. Just keep after them. A bug zapper might help. Remember, you must read and follow the directions on the label. Legal Disclaimer. What do you do at home? Look at the webs, what are they catching? Plan on going after what they are catching. No food, like every thing else, they will leave. I would not get any on the plane, I do not know if it would damage your plane or not, possible damage to paint. Again, read the label and use only as allowed. Ron
  9. Looks like a descent buy. But I wonder about all the maintenace and the last 4 sentences on the ad. Inspection Status. April 2010, Cole Aviation (Mooney Service Center) - August 2008, IFR Cert August - Up to date photos will be added to this add as soon as the airplane returns from Don Maxwell Aviation, where final maintanence is currently being done. Ron
  10. Mitch What are you showing at the L52 theater? Ron
  11. With the fuel cap off, I put an air hose to it, must be very low pressure, I started the compressor and shut off after 30 seconds. You will feel the air escaping the fuel tank, if not it is plugged. My A&P had me use safety wire with a circle end as to not damage anything. If you look into the tank and forward of the filler, you should see the wire come up and hit the bottom of the wing, do not force it. Ron with a 69F
  12. With the PC system, mine would wonder. When you push the PC button, you will not get a 100% disconect in the system. After complete removal of the PC system, My F would fly straight and level. Ron
  13. Have all 4 servo's checked. If any are leaking you will fly out of rig. I had 2 replaced and it worked good for a short while, I evenually put in an STec 30. We found the other 2 servos were going bad, these were the conplaints. Ron
  14. How old is it? Are you parked outside? Ron
  15. CAn you get an Eagle with AC? Ron
  16. 0 SMOH engine and prop, Stec 30 autopilot, updated panel, Storm Scope, back up AI, Looks like a nice plane. Mooney's are worth more the a PA 28-180 or a Tiger. Ron
  17. Another thought. If you moved it to Japan, could it be sold over there, and what would the market bring? Interesting, my log in changed toflight 2000 some how. Ron N9154V
  18. FSS did not comment on this at all this morning at 7 AM CA time. Ron
  19. Alan Congrats to you. My first solo in my Mooney was a double pleasure. I had not flown for almost 15 years befor buying my Mooney. After the flight review and checkout I had double the pleasure, First solo in 15 years and first solo in my new to me Mooney. Talk about the pressure. My instructor was out supervising a first solo for a student, then I reminded her that it was mine in 15 years, she was surprised and had not thought of it that way. Very enjoyable for both of us in the end. Ron 9154V a 69F
  20. I have a 69 F. The gear is all electric. I personally prefer the electric. There are AD's on the gear. Last year I had to replace the gears in the motor. Total about $2000.00. I installed the 40:1 gear set. I had parts in less than 5 days. My flaps are electric and I have not had any problems. My instrument panel is a standard 6 pack with full size instruments. I have 10 holes for 3 inch instruments and 2 2 inch holes on the left side. Some older panels appear to have been installed with a shotgun and have 2 inch DG's. Remember that you are looking at 40 year plus planes. You can have anything you want in a Mooney, it just takes money. As with most Mooney owners, I would be glad to show you mine. Ron at KMPI

  22. In California we pay approx. 9% Sales Tax on all purchases and I would estimate 1% personal property tax on our planes each year. I also pay about 1% Property Tax on my Hanger plus rent the ground each month. Ron
