  2. From the album: #HopePilot's album

Getting ready to go home after being refreshed.
  3. From the album: #HopePilot's album

    Vicki's new paint job.
  4. From the album: #HopePilot's album

    An angelic glow from Vicki.
  5. So I picked up the plane from ArtCraft. Much thanks to Mitch for looking over the project and TomCullen for giving me a ride to pick her up today. Not too many people do a refresh of a classic scheme, using new paint, so I thought it might be of interest. Anyway, here's how it came out:
  6. The shape that would make it able to get into a Mooney hatch (more vertical) might mean that it needs to be velcroed into place once in the baggage area.
  7. Another vote for full flaps, except in high wind conditions. I want the plane as slow as possible and I don't mind dancing on the pedals a bit, as she's a real nice partner.
  8. I'd like one that is more "vertical" in shape, so it would easily fit into the hatch.
  9. Mooneys with removable rear seats (from '82) have a very rectangular shape that resists looking cool even after people throw money at them. I don't want to post any examples, lest I offend someone, but we solved the problem by simulating the shape of the front seats (lots of foam sculpting). Now that I see what Elvis did with his plane, though, I'm having a little buyer's remorse. That looks a thousand percent more groovy and could have added a little disco ball...I don't know what I was thinking? Plane is in the shop getting painted so expect yet another trademarked ridiculous poll coming soon.
  10. From the album: Mooney Art

    Vicki goes under the knife.
  11. I almost bought a Rocket, but most of them, that I looked at, had nose gear collapses. I sure would have liked the speed, but most of the time my 201 exceeds the mission anyway.
  12. Thanks! Can't wait to give it a go.
  13. So, I'm getting ready to drop my plane off at Artcraft to have it repainted. I'm getting the same classic scheme I currently have, but with a dark-blue metallic (I know, I'm going against conventional designs, but I love the 80s Mooney scheme). The one thing I'm changing, just a bit, is the design on the wings. Does anyone have a blank top view .jpg (outline) that I can use to design a new wing scheme? Thanks!
  14. I have all my original paper logs and many copies scanned on CDs. Maybe because I'm an iPilot, but I see no difference whatsoever between scanned and the tree version.
  15. I like my Zulus and will probably buy the Zulu 3s whenever those are released.
  16. I'll second Dan as he is, also, referring to the A&P of Vicki, the world's greatest 201. Nice to see you back Dan.
  17. This happens to me quite a bit, as there are mostly 737s at my field. One time, when told to keep my speed on final, I said, "I can either keep my speed up or drop my gear...your choice." They thought about it for a second and replied, "Speed at your discretion." [
  18. Wanted an SR71, but couldn't find the crew to help support my $100 burger runs. Also, tended to overshoot airport by 300 miles, so settled on a Mooney.
  19. Byron, When you set for 23 degrees did you start with a 25 degree mag and retard to 23 degrees, or start with a 25 degree mag that was rebuilt for 23 degrees? I'm still not getting this. Sorry.
  20. I use a SkyRadar which has a gps that is rock solid and provides ADS-B. I used to use a GNS 5870 which was mostly reliable, much cheaper, but without ADS-B weather.
  21. The real question is whether Jesus would have flow ROP or LOP. At first I thought probably LOP as he believed in not wasting, but then I remembered the story of Mary Magdalene and the perfume (i.e. it depends what the resources are for). I'm going to go with ROP as he would know his time on earth is limited and precious, as should we all. Naturally, of course, he could always get around without burning any fuel at all. Merry Christmas everyone!
  22. So it looks like my transponder antenna is ready to go. Both of my blade antennas have lost part of their plastic and were acting flaky in the rain. I was thinking of getting a Comant CI-105, but if there is something with less drag/smaller I'd love to hear about it. I still have a metal belly or I'd bury them in the belly.
  23. And to add to the question, is it safer to have a 20 degree mag and let timing creep to 23 degrees or have a 25 degree mag and 23 degree timing on your engine?
