  1. I would love to do it, but not for my first year! I want to see everyone come in. I think it'll be exciting. I already got tickets to the BBQ and im sure the company alone will make it worth wild! Now I have something good to look forward to on sunday evening!
  2. wow I sure hope that BBQ is amazing!! Has anyone been to one before? I am looking forward to meeting some Mooney brethren!
  3. I don't know about you guys but I am pretty darn excited about Oshkosh! I'll be starting my 3 week vacation with Oshkosh on the 23rd. Followed by alot of other places....see below if you curious! Well if you see me remember to say hello, i'll be in the back 40! My route (see www.runwayfinder.com and put this in the route) kplu;63c;kosh;kalb;4v8;kmht;3b4;1B2;kbid;kbdr;kteb;PA50;khrj;stary;kfpr;blufi;myat;blufi;kfpr;fpy;knew;kwdg;kftg;kpna;kjac;kplu
  4. Well I'm in the Idaho backcountry right now! Currently 3u2. She does just fun on grass, gravel, dirt ect you just have to be careful to not hit any big rocks...but really who wants to hit a big rock! If ya have any in depth q's please feel free to ask I use her off road...I mean off paved fields all the time! PS....BrYan!!!!!
  5. Yep here I am! First of all I personally recommend the OEM 201 cowl deck and 201 mod from Lasar. Southwest Texas aviation (SWTA) does not have there windows available at this time, or at least they didn't afew months ago. Anyway the cost for the parts is about $2175.00 you can look it up here.... . That is parts only. Labor, well if you have your buddies then work with them cause it has riveting, cutting and drilling...lots! It is mostly labor but god when its done it sure does look great! If you want some pictures of my mod shoot me an email and i'll get some to you. In regards to the K & N filter I have had mine for about 2 years now and its still working great. I clean it every about ever 100hrs, so 2 times a year. It was well worth the money, essentially the cheapest power boost you can buy. Its no much, but hey who doesn't like breathing easier! Anyway I have done alot of mods to my plane so feel free to pick my brain, or anyone elses here. We love our Mooney's and love to help others!
  6. Congrats! looks like you have a bit of work ahead but if your up to it thats all that matters. I really enjoy working on mine and I really enjoyed learning about everything while I did several mods to it. Looks like you have the 201 panel. Now all you need is the 201 window and maybe a cowl closure! A little extra speed Oh and if you redo the side windows its not to painful and definitly doable by an owner. Just remember the front window requires a mechanic!
  7. I got mine and I LOVE IT!!! Its just amazing!!
  8. Congrats! Where are you going to base her out of?
  9. okay so if im reading that correctly its on but 2 months later...darn!
  10. Jolie do you have to register? If I can't go to Idaho this day maybe i'll shoot up to Tahoe for the day, i'll have this as my backup!
  11. Quote: DaV8or I have no experience, but on the face of it I would say the inner gear doors on the J that the early models don't have might take a punishing.
  12. Well if you want a list of the strips i've taken my C model into I'll give you the list. I promise you'll pe shocked with all the places. I wish someone would stop spreading the rumor that Mooney's shouldn't go into grass strips. I've compared my prop tip clearance to other planes that fly in the backcountry and into grass strips and really its not that much of a difference. Maybe an inch or 3. You just have to be careful! Happy flying
  13. So Its been a long time since i'd been up to Medical springs to see the family well I called them up and after talking about a few options for places to fly into they made a comment about making a landing strip in the field above the house. When I was younger it was tall alfalfa but now it was just short grass and a fairy smooth, yet wavy piece of land. So I told them what I needed and they made me a landing strip. Here are some cool pictures (well if you ask me they are) of my adventure. Its a nice 1800-1900ft strip at 3600MSL. Of course I didn't need but maybe 1000ft of it since I was lightweight . oh and I sure did spook a calf on the way out! Don't doubt our Mooney's capibilites!
  14. 1000.2Lbs useful with a payload of 688lbs Can't complain!
  15. Quote: ehscott Jolie: I would look at the size of files that you will want to store on the ipad. 16gig is not a lot of storage. If that amount of memory does the trick its the way to go.
  16. Can you listen to music while flying, look at charts all over the USA (IFR/VFR/TAC Etc), Approach plates, airport diaghrams, weather charts. Do weight and balance, find density altitude, TAS, GS (several other things), maybe you get bored, or your co pilot wants to play a game while you fly, lets play monopoly! Can they do that with the "Normal aviation" gps? I don't think so! And what if you land and want to know the closest food location, oh well lets just pull that iPad out and take it with us. Oh did I mention it weighs less than 2lbs and has a really long batter life. Plus it'll have new awesome programs as the times pass. So you can easily update that thing as apposed to the "Normal aviation GPS!" I can't wait to get one....when i get home Im tickled pink haha!
  17. Looks great! A usual product from Artcraft! And they will probably help you out. And hey i thought recommended them as well!
  18. Here is a picture of mine well before I had my gear and airplane cleaned & repainted! When I replaced the disks There was a wierd washer on the top that was held in with a bolt. This cap should either pop right off or there might be a screw, I can't recall for sure. But I do think its a screw that should hold it on. If its welded, someone must have not liked the screws. Once you get the cover off though the easiest way to get the bolt off the top is to put the plane on the ground. Once you get it jacked you can do the rest, makes life alot easier! Goodluck!
  19. I would love an apsen...someday!
