KDET is very scenic approach over Windsor, Ontario and the Detroit river when approaching from the south. Tower is very friendly. Check out Eastern Market if you get the chance. There are a lot of great restaurants downtown. Supino's pizza is great! Middle eastern restaurants in Dearborn are best in the nation.

I too was hoping for a certified G3X! I must have been delusional to think that it might actually happen! Disappointing!

There is a lot of speculation about what Garmin is going to announce today. Could it be a G3X Touch for certified piston aircraft? A G500 update akin to NXI for G1000? What do you think? The first session of Dayton Air Camp wrapped up on Friday. My 11 y/o son had a blast! This was the first ever day camp for 4-6th graders. The staff were awesome and professional! Attached are some pics. My son can't wait to go back next year!

My 10 y/o son is signed up to go to the Dayton Air Camp https://aircampusa.com/ in June. I don't have any personal experience but it has an excellent reputation. The itinerary looks awesome! I wish they had a camp for 45-49 year olds. I guess OSH will have to do. I will post a PIREP after he attends.

Welcome! I live in Dayton and have an M20R based at DAY. What airport do you fly out of? I don't know any Mooney specific CFIs in the area, but do know some excellent CFIs that could easily help with transition training into an F or J. Also, MAPA typically brings its Pilot Proficiency Program to the Midwest in the fall. This past year they were in Mansfield (MFD). Mooney instructors abound at these programs. They sometimes are available at other times during the year to help with transition training. I did not hear back after submitting my renewal form in the usual time this year so I contacted my broker. He disclosed that the renewal quote from AIG Aerospace came back significantly higher than last year. When he asked them why they said said the line about having a significant increase in all retractables "especially this one due to unfavorable loss history". He began shopping other underwriters. So far, Old Republic has come back the lowest. Starr Aviation was second.

I just received my renewal offer for the 2017-2018 policy period from AIG and the premium has more than doubled. I have not had any accidents or incidents. I flew around 120 hours during the current policy period. I completed an instrument proficiency check in the spring during recurrent IFR training with Doug Stewart (awesome). I attended MAPA PPP in October for more recurrent training and received a BFR/ intrument proficiency check. My insurance broker asked AIG why the increase and was told-- "We had a significant increase in all retracts, but especially this one due to unfavorable loss history." Has anyone else experienced a big increase in their premium?

Sad news! For the FAA to call this agreement an"innovative solution" is pathetic!
