  1. I am looking for advice on a Toronto airport to fly into in August. We are staying at a hotel in Yorkville. Has anyone flown onto Pearson International (CYYZ), Buttonville (CYKZ), or City Centre (CYTZ)? Experience with FBOs? This will be our first international flight. I have obtained the necessary permits and registered with eAPIS. Should be fun! Thanks-- Patrick
  2. Finally made our trip to Chicago this past weekend after rescheduling in May due to weather. Flew into MDW. It was a challenge in a good way. The controllers talk very fast but were helpful. They changed me from 31C to 31L on short final which made for a few intense minutes. Once on the ground, it was an easy taxi to Signature Aviation. Line guys were great. We got help with our bags and they called us a taxi. Traffic was light and we were downtown in about 20 minutes. When we returned yesterday to the airport, we walked into Signature with our bags and were asked if we needed help finding our crew. My wife and I replied, " We are the crew!". Other than an A36 our Mooney was surrounded by CJs and Gulfstreams. Even so, we were treated very well. Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely use MDW and Signature again on our next visit to Chicago.
  3. Great decision! I have been slowly refurbishing my 74' F over the past several years. 1) Fuel tank strip and reseal with polyurethane STC - Midwest Mooney 2) 201 windshield, 201 lasar cowl mod, aileron flap gap seals 3) JPI engine monitor with fuel flow, vertical compass card 4) Strip and Jet Glo paint 5) Garmin 430W/ 340 audio panel 6) Aspen 1000 PFD 7) Panel fabrication Only thing left is the interior. I may tackle that next year. I get compliments everywhere I go and most people cannot believe it is a 37 y/o airplane. You will not regret sticking with the F as long as it continues to serve your mission!
  4. Congratulations! It is a great accomplishment!
  5. I have been through the same issue with my wife. When I completed my private four years ago, she had fear of small planes and my piloting skills. I convinced her to take a pinch hitter course and to go up with an instructor along. As her understanding of the airplane increased, some of her fear began to fade away. I then planned some short flights to visit her family and some fun day trips possible only through general aviation. Gradually we began doing some weekend trips and going a little farther. I completed my instrument rating several months ago. She saw how hard I worked to obtain that rating and her confidence in me has increased. She still has some fear and I know that she does not love GA like I do, but she has come a long way.
  6. Quote: Bob Never flew into Midway, since I live in Chicago, but had a pilot friend that used Millionaire and I remember him saying they were great. I remember his saying they took care of everything fast and ran a shuttle to the train that goes to downtown. He flew a "Private" charter in for a "Pleasure" flight. http://www.flamingoair.net/flight_of_fancy.html
  7. Going to Chicago in a couple of weeks. Any recommendations for FBO at MDW?

  13. Quote: DaV8or Ooo! Pre, during and after? I love people's pictures, but I particularly love the process pictures. What colors are you going with?
  14. I did make contact with Mozleys. They seem to be in the process of relocating. I decided to go with Sturgis Aviation in Michigan. They are closest to me and had a last minute cancellation. Plane is there now. I will post pics soon. I appreciate everyone's help.
  15. I tried calling Mozleys at 913-782-4468 but I get a message that the number is disconnected. That is the only number I can find for them. Do you have a current number?
  16. Hi Rob, I am based at DAY in Dayton, Ohio. We like to fly to Ann Arbor, Mi (ARB) and go to Zingerman's deli. They have unbelieveable sandwiches. We also sometimes fly to French Lick, Indiana (FRH). There is a restaurant called Hagen's at one of the resort's golf courses that has great ribs. Resort provides shuttle transport to and from the airport. Each of these trips is around an hour. We may make the Ann Arbor trip on Sun Jun 20. Let me know if she is interested in the story. Patrick
  17. Thanks for your input! I am not looking to get the work done until the fall. I will keep looking around a bit. It would be a fun X country to Cali.
  18. I talked to DESAPI and Sturgis Aviation. They both appear to have a very good process. Price qoute 13-15K. What do you consider a reasonable price for quality job?
  19. Looking to get my 74' F painted. Can anyone recommend a paint shop in the midwest (Ohio, Mi, IN, KY) ?
