  1. I have a reseal job that was done by WW 5 years ago and they are as good as new. I bought the plane after it was done so I personally have not went through the process.

  3. I had the same issue a few times too Jim. I adjusted the time I had the boost on and played with the throttle position a little and it worked itself out.
  4. I guess it runs in our blood. I recently had a "discussion" with the wife about postponing the 3 hr drive to Little Rock in favor of the 1 hour flight due to bad wx that day. To bad it was Christmas or I may have won! Not only is it much more enjoyable but the fuel cost is almost identical compared to our SUV. I love to fly.
  5. Quote: skyking I own and maintain a Mooney, i dont have $10 bucks just lying around...LOL russ

  7. Quote: jlunseth On the issue of the engine temp increasing once you close the flaps, my admittedly very limited experience is with my new 231. We also had that issue flying the plane home from KSDL, where I purchased it. I am told by the Mooney Service place that currently is working on the plane, that the cowl flaps need to be set by the mechanic to trail slightly open. If they close tightly the engine compartment will warm. We had to open the cowl flaps to the detent (half open) position to cool down at altitude (15,000). A Cessna 210 friend of mine who lives in NM says his mechanic tells him the same thing. Cowl flaps need to be set to trail slightly open in the summer, then can be set to fully close in the winter. Not an adjustment you can make from the cockpit though.
  8. Very interesting Bill, you definately have my interest up. Any idea on the date/location of the next one?
  9. All of my vents work and it takes every one of them to keep me cool in the crazy heat and humidity around here. POH mentions not to use the roof vent at high airspeeds because it may cause buffeting. I've never felt this, but like Jim I usually don't open it full bore in cruise. Gotta love the 152's where you can open up the entire window and hang an arm out like the you are riding in the old farm truck. Maybe that's because you are going roughly the same speed:)
  10. Quote: JimR Every plane is probably different as far as the trim and flap indicators go, but I read that full down aileron deflection is equal to 15 degrees flaps. So I usually set takeoff flaps by turning one aileron down with full deflection and then visually matching the flaps to that. On my plane that technique places the flap indicator at the top of the takeoff range. I then match the trim indicator to the flap indicator and it works out pretty well.
  11. Quote: Mcstealth Congratulations. I bet you could do the job in four hours next time
  12. Finally got the pictures posted of the before and after on my plastic job. All in all it took about 24 hours of tedious labor and a few minutes of cussing:)
  13. New baffling seals dropped my CHTs about 10-15 degrees. The old seals were not customized for a 201 so the big hump in the cowling had not been accounted for resulting in a lot of air loss in that area. The job took about 6 hours to do the upper and lower.
  14. Jeev- I think my plane has a twin. The pics of your new plane on ASO look ALOT like my mine, inside and out. You must have great taste!
  15. Jeev- Have you tried Kel Petersen? I was with AOPA last year and KP beat them by $300 this go around. 800.777.5960. Congrats on the new plane. I too had 200TT and 0 retract when I bought my Mooney. The transition was very smooth and I am now pushing 200 hours in the Mooney this year alone.
  16. Very true Cruiser. I have the Stec 30 Alt and I love it for cross country flying. It does make life easier in the clouds but my IFR instructor only lets me use it every 4th approach so I keep my hand flying skills up. It with the 430 really makes the approaches and holds a breeze.
  17. FYI: Falcon was within $75 of K.P.
