  1. I had the pitch servo fail two weeks after installing the GTC-500. That was three years ago. I had another pitch servo fail last week and they did a warranty replacement on the second one too. Lee
  2. I had the same thing happen to me recently. The pin slipped out of three of 2700’s. I never had that happen before. Lee
  3. Concerning checklist, I used the ‘ACE Editor’ app on my iPad and found it to be relatively easy to use. Lee
  4. Did you notice the rust around the fuel tank filler neck? I suspect the airplane has significant corrosion. Lee
  5. Me too. I always spray the screws with LPS before reinstalling. Rarely have any problems. Lee
  6. I have my Mooney, Citabria, and my son’s ski boat in my 50x50 hangar. The taildragger is a little difficult since the tail cannot be moved over something lower such as a wing or boat trailer. Works fine though. Lee
  7. I live on a 3,000’ grass strip with my M20J. I collected data for a couple of years on all the factors influencing performance. I found that ground roll is within about 5% of a paved runway when the grass is dry and recently mowed. Otherwise about 10% variance. Lee
  8. Is the gdl88 connected to the Fs210? I believe the GDL88 is hardwired to the 530. lee
  9. The edm900 and 930 are great products. It’s a lot of work to install but it has a lot of useful features. Lee
  10. Is your presentation to enlightened and aviation audience on the value proposition of having a Mooney? if so, the record of the moneys are worth exploring. Old wives tales (difficult to land, cockpit is too small, etc). Address maintenance issues (fuel tanks, dual mag, no back spring, etc). Explain the performance of the Mooney in sped and efficiency. Basically tell the audience what is unique about the Mooney (good and bad). lee
  11. As others have said, there are a lot of factors to consider (me, the airplane, turbulence, WS, area wx, etc). Generally, my planning is 500-1 or better at the planned time of arrival. Upon arrival, if the weather is reporting minimums or better, I’ll fly it. In the past, I would depart if the weather was at minimums or better. That has worked fine for me for over 50 years, but I’m 70 now and have readjusted due to age. I expect the numbers will increase again before long. Lee
  12. My complaint is the pink outlines on the map. However, Rick correctly said it’s the aeronautical map. I don’t use that and don’t know how it got selected. Anyway, it’s solved. thanks to everyone for your comments. lee
  13. I just got a new iPhone 16. The Foreflight image on the new phone looks cartoonish. Is there a way to have it display like the iPad?
  14. I’m using MS-25041’s. They are about $25 each from spruce. My mechanic and I have not installed these yet. Lee
  15. I didn’t change my senders. The gauges seem to be within about a gallon of actual. Lee
  16. I did the same thing when I needed one. Not difficult. Lee
  17. Perhaps an owner produced part is a better option. Lee
  18. Benjamin Franklin said “a man who has two watches will never know what time it is”. In my Mooney I have a G3x and a g5 backup. The av20 is the tie breaker. And, the av20 was originally installed in my Citabria, so it was a no cost addition to the Mooney. Lee
  19. I would add the Av20. You don’t need an oat probe when you use it as an AI. And, it can be used as a clock. also, who really needs a sweep second hand? I haven’t time an approach in years. 50 years ago just about all my approaches were NDB. Thank goodness, that’s gone. Lee
  20. Thanks for the referral to ACE Editor. It works great and is very easy to use. I built a checklist last night and loaded this morning. Lee
  21. I use a local trophy store for labels. I send them a PDF of what I want and they print it on aluminum, cut to size. I believe I pay about $5.00 per label. Lee
  22. Hickory NC (khky) has an on site restaurant and an aviation museum. Lee
  23. I’ve seen this happen to another Mooney before. The aluminum was torn when a mechanic was removing the front seats and the seat frame snagged the aluminum. I don’t remember how it was repaired. Lee
  24. I got lazy and never tried to find an equivalent LED. With my edm930, most of the annunciators are not needed. So I’m just going to remove the annunciator panel and install a few lights still needed. lee
  25. Bob bramble is excellent. Another source - if he is still around - is Tim Brouwer at mayday avionics. tbrouwer@maydayavionics.com. He repaired a similar unit for me on my previous Mooney. Lee
