  1. That ones with 1/4. 1/2. etc are still available on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Rochester-Gauges-5323S01792-Size-Capsule/dp/B0BR2GPB27
  2. Another advantage to doing it this way, is you can adjust the markings for Monroy tanks.
  3. Those mentioning $1 million liability, is that $100K per person sublimit (common) or smooth (full amount available per person)?
  4. Brother P-Touch label maker. All sorts of sizes and color available.
  5. First, THANK YOU for the dedicated M20K section. But, on the main listing of sections, there is extra space between the M20K listing and the Mooney Caravan listing. Not a major issue, but it looks wierd.
  6. Occupational Health and Safety Professional for over 40 years here. That is not "his" idea. It comes from research done in the 1930s. by a guy named Heinrich. He studied a bunch of similar mishaps (we don't call accidents) and came up with the Heinrich triangle, where there is a ratio of 300 to 29 to 1. That is 300 near misses or minor injuries to 29 serious injuries to 1 major injury or death of similar mishaps. And that, as you mentioned, fixing the near misses or minor injuries tends to prevent the serious and major injuries. The problem is, getting people to report those minor mishaps. This is why most professionals are against safety incentive programs. That is, if we don't have any mishaps, people get a bonus or such. This just makes people hide the minor mishaps to not screw up the bonus, and the first time you find out there my be an issue is with a serious or major mishap. Sort of the idea behind the ASRS system. In general, most mishaps are caused by the unsafe acts of the people involved. From willfully violating safety protocols to "hey, watch this" situations. About 85% are from this. about 10 - 15% are unsafe conditions. That could be something broke or something was setup wrong. Only about 1 - 1.5% of mishaps are truly accidents (why we call them mishaps). And those are the ones you can't do anything about. In the class of acts of God.
  7. I think he was referencing that mishap where the guy dropped his power bank. Then tossed it on the back seat. While taxiing out, it burst into flames.
  8. Yes. FYI for others, he is talking about Formula One AIR racers. Not F1 cars. How to go over 200 MPH on an O-200 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_One_Air_Racing
  9. Using moments saves a math step. You multiple weights by arm to get moments. You then add up all the weights and add up all the moments. With a moment chart, you just go into the chart to see if you are in the acceptable range. With a CG chart, you have the extra step of dividing the total moment by the total weight to get CG and go into the chart. But I find the CG chart more intuitive to see where you are in relation to CG and gross weight limits. For even more fun, the CG charts for my CAP-10 are in % of chord.
  10. Best for comparison is to give: Liability and the limits (1M/100K or 1M/.200K or 1M smooth, etc) Insured Hull Value Hull Premium The last two can be used to compute the Hull Percentage they are charging. The quote I got on my plane is (from @Parker_Woodruff ) Liability - 1M smooth - $1862. 1M/100K would be $1424 Hull Value is $300,000 (M20K 252 with new avionics) Hull Premium is $3868 Hull rate is 1.32% Total $5829 2000 hours, 700 retract, 200 in type. And they quoted Non-Owned coverage for $1M liability and $100K hull at ZERO cost. YMMV
  11. Agreed. I think since I have SXM in a couple of cars, it is very minimal cost for the music subscription.
  12. I never tried to set up the voice part. But I found the checklist builder to be OK, but not the most efficient.
  13. Could also be kinked tubing.
  14. I think part of the idea is if you caught 3 mistakes, how many did you miss?
  15. I have Goose Copilot (formerly MiraCheck) for my iPad. It can talk and listed to your responses. But I find I tend to use flow and the checklist to confirm, so a paper checklist is faster.
  16. The AI will show track if it not getting magnetic heading data. So likely a problem with the wiring that the AI is not seeing the magnetometer.
  17. I use cell on the iPad a good bit. I sometimes use it to file. And I like a TFR updates before I take off. My home field had a small cutout for whenever Biden went home, so nice to know up to date.
  18. When I instructed, pre-solo the window (Cessna) would pop open. Strange how it always happened at about 500 AGL on the instructor side. The topic was discussed a couple of times pre-solo.
  19. Exactly. But go in with your eyes open. Maybe a low ball offer with why it is low would work.
  20. That is still low overall time, low retract and low time in type. Next year should help. BTW, with the changes to the regs, Complex is not Retract. My initial application and updates have asked for Retract time.
  21. Contact @Parker_Woodruff
  22. As @hubcap stated in another thread, you can fly an IFR approach on the internal G3X GPS/database. So having the IFR database is a nice extra backup.
  23. I bought my Mini 6 with cellular to have GPS chip. Did not get a SIM. After a while, I found I was using it enough that it made sense to add it to my cell plan. I like getting the latest iteration of my flight plan from FF or Flight Aware without having to pull out my phone to enable hot spot. For security, I do not leave hot spot on. I have a power cord in the plane, so even without putting it in Airplane Mode, it charges during the flight.
  24. My point was, there are two different things for two different circumstances. And BOTH are important. We just don't teach the one in GA aircraft. But the training in GA has always been pretty much land straight ahead with engine failure. Hmm, turn to the side of the fire. WHY? If you are in coordinated flight, it makes no difference. Now you could slip/skid to keep the flames away for other bits.
