  1. Website for airports and food - https://flightsforbites.com/ Fairly new site, building as time goes on
  2. Not exactly all the records. All the 337s. But not all maintenance.
  3. I like my Redline Sidewinder. And you can fold it and take it with you for use at other locations.
  4. Where is the airplane?
  5. I see, that is not a good thing.
  6. One instance where there was a issue with the FAA due to how it appeared. Otherwise OPP are fine.
  7. I know Blackstone will transfer an N-number with the past results to a new owner. Does anyone know of them releasing info to someone else?
  8. Mooney M20 is certificated in 1955. All later M20s are modifications of the original TC, so all Mooneys are covered Hmmm, among production aircraft, Cirrus is one of the few that would not be covered.
  9. If the price works for you, it is a good price. Over the life of the plane, the price is a small part. Big thing is get a GOOD pre-purchase inspection. That will save you a lot in the long run. Modern panels are not cheap, so, IMO, get a reasonable one to start out. I would really consider a J or beyond. The extra speed is nice. In the philosophy to buy your last airplane first. Or Buy Once, Cry Once. If you are looking at much travel to the west of you, turbo would be nice. As has been said, find a good mechanic first. I can't help you in IA, but locally I have a great Mooney guy nearby and the shop at my field is also quite good with a good bit of Mooney experience (3 on the field).
  10. No, the MC clock has two ports. The newer O2D2 you can leave the batteries in, and if the cords comes out of the power stops, it will run off the batteries. Older ones are different.
  11. Back in college a buddy rebuilt the engine in his car. It would not start. My first reaction was distributor 180 out. Spun it around, same thing. It would pop, so of fire. We spent all afternoon trying to figure it. Finally went back to putting it TDC on compression and checking. He managed to get it in 90 degrees out. So swapping it 180 degrees, it was still 90 out.
  12. When I was flying gliders with Soar Hawaii, they required the buttons to be removed from hats if flying in their gliders. They had instances of the button punching a perfect little hole in the canopy.
  13. Except Grumman is fixed gear and fixed pitch prop. Lower maintenance costs and lower insurance costs.
  14. I have had the same issue with Apple cords. I have a couple of Ankar now that seem to be more robust. One that I carry is USB-A to plug into power and 3 tails with Lightning, USB-C, and Micro USB ends. You can use more than one tail at a time. My plane came with a MidContinent digital clock with 2x USB-A ports. I might consider replacing it with their version with 1 - USB-A and 1 - USB-C. Or just keep it and add USB-C panel mount power device. From my side, I use one for my iPad Mini (and it charges it slowly in use) and one for my Mountain High O2D2
  15. In Mooney speeds, I would take it to KGAI and have Byron do the inspection. But before that, have him take a look at the logs. He saved me the cost of a couple of pre-buys with a log inspection
  16. How often are the calibrated? Digital does not mean more accurate, it just means they give the wrong number to more precision.
  17. I did my PP in a Tiger. And later, a friend bought one on my recommendation (long sad story about it). When I decided to buy, I looked at Tigers, but last spring, there just were not any for sale. And the few that were, were original 6 pack, no HSI, and many no GPS. I used to flight plan 132 knots on 10.2 GPH and beat both numbers.
  18. One of the better for UL is a 252 converted to Encore. Lighter EW than Encore, but with the 230 pound GW increase. Mine is 1119 UL.
  19. Double check the 3 blade prop thing. In many cases, they are the same diameter as the 2 blade.
  20. Nope. I updated my 650 to 650Xi in Oct at Sarasota. The price on the site is the price I paid. No sales tax on aircraft parts in Floida. No extra fees. They even changed over my Garmin subscription to the new navigator. And updated my G5 for free.
  21. Blackstone takes that into account. If you go longer (miles on a car) and numbers of up, they do some normalizing
  22. I don't know, in the airplanes I fly, there are Garmin 400, 430, 650, G-1000, and my plane with a 650Xi. I find the 650s very nice, with a lot of capabilities over the 4xx navs. And the touch screen is very nice. I keep poking the screens on the other airplanes.
  23. Since the automatic waste gate will be closed at 19,000, I can't see that it would add more. How high of a critical altitude are you looking for? And why?
  24. There are some with better useful loads. The sweet spot seems to be a 252 converted to Encore. Mine is at 1119 UL right now. So at 770 pounds in the cabin, I can still load 58 gallons of fuel. So about 4.5 hours with reserve.
