  1. I’ve been doing some research because I’m looking for a solution that will work well in the rental world I’m currently constrained to and I have come across numerous comments complaining about poor reception of the Stratux. In plane to plane comparisons, flying at the same time, the Stratux pilot was getting 1 tower while the Stratus pilot tracked 2-3 towers. I’m sure there are countering reviews, but to me, there appears to be a reception issue with the Stratux solution.
  2. I love what you have done! It’s absolutely stunning. I looked at a plane with a similar arrangement of avionics, minus the big screen and GFC. It had a pair of G5s with GNC 355 & 255 head units. The problem we had was we couldn’t get VOR from the 255 to the G5 HSI and then to the autopilot. With your setup, can you navigate from the 255 and get the GFC to track a VOR? Again, great job! R2
  3. Bingo! We have a winner. Much appreciated!
  4. Not intentionally. Let me check. Thanks!
  5. Recently, all name tags wrap into two lines with the last letter on the second line. I’m assuming there was a version upgrade on the server but no way to confirm that. Do you see this too?
  6. I need to bookmark this thread and refer certain sellers who tell me a PPI is a waste of my money because their plane doesn’t have any corrosion.
  7. My plan was to be down there with my new to me plane, but things haven’t worked out as planned. Maybe Kentucky in June. Enjoy the weather.
  8. For my IR, I used King. Say what you want, but their process teaches you the material. For my commercial, I bought Shepard. It feels like legal cheating. There is no intent of teaching the material. Their program is built on you memorizing the questions and answers. They tell you that if you take the test and get a question you hadn’t seen previously, you should memorize it and as soon as you leave the test site, send them an email with the question and answers so they can add it to the question bank.
  9. I have the same recommendation. Skip Forge, I’ve heard bad. Take it Joe Cole in Dalton.
  10. I was getting a YouTube fix this morning and found one of our own taking off from Back Achers Airpark in Belleview, FL. @A64Pilot, that sure is a pretty bird. And I can see another Mooney but can’t see much detail. Good stuff starts at 6:15.

  14. Saw this on the FB Mooney page. Pretty impressive stamina. Colorado to Rhode Island Non-Stop
  15. Let me jump in with the assist. @korbike, see above.

  17. Just saw that pop up YouTube. Somebody has some explaining to do.
  18. Just saw this pop up on YouTube. M20J Yoke Detached In Flight
  19. Does anyone have a source for the 1980’s style leather grain embossed panel material? I’m assuming it’s just a stick-on treatment, but I wouldn’t know where to start looking. Chuck
  20. It could turn out to be a great plane and a great deal for you, or not. Just make sure you do your homework.
  21. That display looks quite crispy.
  22. So all of the small screws hold the antenna together and the 8 larger headed screws hold it into the wing.
  23. Your point about quality of work during an uninstall is spot on. Check out the leftover slew switch. I don’t think that is of much use for the G5. I wonder how much UL is being used up hauling around 40 years of abandoned components and harnesses.
  24. Here’s something from the IPC.
  25. I looked at a J at PDK today that has the antenna but nothing, except probably lots of wiring, left in the cockpit. I wonder how much $$$ it would take to make that all disappear, along with the INOP radar altimeter. R2
