  1. Yeah, I wish it was that easy.
  2. And as an aside, at what point in a paint job’s lifespan does the paint begin to pop off of the rivet heads? Are rivet heads the canary in the coal mine for aircraft paint? R2
  3. Yeah, that happens to all of us. It’s a pendulum swing situation. Enjoy the ride.
  4. While I haven’t participated in the program, this sounds like the exact reason FAA Wings was created, to work out the mind muscle and improve decision making skills.
  5. N64SZ has been sold.
  6. One just listed this morning but I can’t seem to get the link insert to work right now
  7. So I just finished going over a 64 page VRef desktop appraisal that used 2 comps. How do you get 64 pages out of 2 comps and a plane you’ve never laid eyes on? It’s all fluff and concludes with a seven page resume of the appraiser that also happens to be the president and CTO as well. I’ve always heard of VRef but had never seen one of their appraisals. Now that I’ve seen one, I’m not very impressed. There’s hardly any content and it’s mostly fluff, a whole lot of something about nothing.
  8. Since this thread began as a discussion about current market prices, here’s a snip from a VRef done back in October 2022.
  9. Nothing is an annual until it goes in the logs. If the plane is in annual when it rolls into the shop, it’s still legally in annual until the end of the 12 calendar months from the last annual. Is there anything in the regs that forces someone to proactively declare an aircraft unairworthy if a discrepancy is discovered? The shop that will be doing a Prebuy for me will be using the Mooney annual checklist for the Prebuy and at the conclusion, if the purchase goes through, will sign it off as a fresh annual. If the deal falls through, the plane returns to its owner with nothing noted in the logs.
  10. Maybe he was still pissed off about losing to Georgia.
  11. I think part of it is the nature of YT. You either make videos of what you do, or you find things to do to make videos. Sometimes the hunger for fresh content causes some creators to push the limits.
  12. Oh yes it is. I’m also looking at one with a 750xi, so this is very helpful. Thanks!
  13. I know that saga well as I also looked at that plane. Hopefully it is finished soon. Thanks for all of your searching efforts. Chuck
  14. Is there a suggested place to see examples of contingent sales contracts? I’m most interested in specific verbiage regarding how to address items found during a Prebuy. My concern is anything drawn up by a broker or owner will need amending and I’d like to have some acceptable suggestions. Thanks, Chuck
  15. For some of us, I hope 2023 turns into Happy Mooney Buying.
  16. @ceep3PO I’ve only been on MS for a short time and like you, came here looking to get educated quickly. The quickly part is the problem with that scenario. You can get quick answers to specific questions, but what you seek is knowledge, and that takes considerably more time. When I came here, I was in love with the 252 because it came out when I was in college and was immediately on my bucket list. I will tell you that when you start actually looking at individual planes seriously, your priorities most likely will shift. The more information you absorb, the clearer you’ll be able to see what is right for you. Define your realistic flying mission and define your budget. Be realistic about what you are comfortable spending every month for several years and let that better define what you’re looking for. What has been very beneficial to me is to read tons of posts here and start living the “Mooney life” with all of the owners here. You can live the life through their experiences and you’ll be amazed at where your knowledge will be in a matter of months. I came here dead set on wanting a gorgeous 252, but I haven’t looked at one yet, but I have looked at F’s, G’s and J’s. Six cylinders and a turbo may be in my future, and maybe that sexy 252 I dreamed about in my earlier years will become a reality some day. Enjoy the process! R2
  17. I like these ideas and it sounds like it will work well to protect the cam and lifters that are exposed to crankcase air, but what about cylinder bores? Are there any ideas on how to keep the jugs rust free?
  18. Jim Stevens is in Acworth and instructs a lot at PDK. Contact me directly if you would like contact info.
  19. Is there such a thing as a discounted OnePak subscription? Is anything ever offered at Sun-n-Fun or Oshkosh? R2
  20. Great first post! Welcome to MooneySpace.
  21. Yes, Brian’s J was a beauty for sure. I’m sure the new owner is very happy.
  22. Santa heard that you need a No Back Spring and he sent his hangar elves to find one for you. No Back Clutch Spring Merry Christmas Y’all
  23. We’ll, it’s a long story but it appears the ship has sailed on this one and I am better educated for that. Next… Thanks to everyone for their input. It does look like a good MSC in SoCal is needed.
