  1. Ahh. So we're primarily concerned about electrical charges that build up in flight.
  2. First of all, I'm a big proponent of safety procedures. However, does anyone else wonder why this is so critically important for aircraft fueling but it's completely overlooked for automobile refueling? What's the technical difference between the two platforms?
  3. I’ve tried everything but brake cleaner. It’s not the blue stains: it’s the gunky sticky brown build up. I’m hoping to have some paint touch up after the bladders are in. Appreciate the recommendations.
  4. I have some significant seeps now (thus the incoming bladders). The running residue is fairly gunked up in a few areas. But totally agree, the paint has remained stuck. I'm actually wondering how I'll remove the residue without removing the paint. It doesn't come off easily if it builds up.
  5. Time will tell. Hoping the bladders outlast me and the next owner. Will post a few pics during the install process. Looking forward to it.
  6. All of my interior side panels and several of the baggage compartment panels were replaced with Vantage Plane Plastics. They take a ton of trimming and fitting but they're much better than the originals. They finish very nicely with SEM aerospace products. The plane plastics on line catalog is not very friendly. You may not see the exact part you're looking for; if not, call them; they'll likely have it; if they don't, you can send the your part and they will make one. You'll likely want to make your own arm rests and side accent panels.
  7. "must be attached around one of the isolators"? I'm getting ready to install overhauled fuel senders next month.
  8. Although there's a lot of speculation here without much data, this thread does make me feel better about the five digit check I wrote for bladders and the big box that was dropped on my doorstep yesterday. :>
  9. Would be cool to see the finished seats too.
  10. I asked the shop that overhauled my engine in 2015 for an updated IO360 estimate for 2024. Roughly $40K and three months minimum. It took about six months the last time my engine was removed locally, shipped to the shop, returned and reinstalled. Seems like I remember it costing about $33K total back in 2015 with all the accessories refreshed.
  11. Mine was shipped yesterday from LASAR. Will post a pic when it’s received. Ordered 09 Apr. Received in 7 Dec. The estimated 35 week lead time was about right.
  12. Good to know. I have bladders on order and rebuilt fuel gages in a box ready to install. Will be watching the install closely.
  13. I’m not a mechanic but I had a similar leak with a very similar stain on the ground. It wasn’t dripping from inside the fitting, it was running down my fitting. It’s hard to tell the difference with a drip. Based on my experience, I would suggest removing the access panel and looking more closely before you fly. My plane is an F though and again I’m no expert. See the link below for the source of my leak. In my case it was not the pump.
  14. Saw that. Just trying to keep some life in the thread where more folks have a chance of seeing it.
  15. If by some chance you get enough interest for 25 at a cost of $103.50 each, I'll take three. I have one new rudder seal installed this year and one patched spare in a box. I really don't need any at the moment but having the additional spares would be nice. I'm hoping Kevin Westbrook will overhaul my Turn Coordinator early next year (it's not responding to the DG heading input).

  17. I use the clear frosted Overcasters not the black ones. I gave up on Foggles. Got tired of chasing reading prescriptions; I also found the poor optical quality really distracting. https://asa2fly.com/overcasters2/
  18. Squeaky clean in there. Nice!
  19. Anyone ever seen a pic of an Uavionix AV-MAG mounted outboard in a wing? Curious whether it's mounted directly to a rib or requires a bracket? I believe it's smaller than the Garmin magnetometer. Thanks.
  20. I admire it every time I clean it. I actually think it would be very effective.
  21. Pretty sure that's a 1990 vintage Aero Mods M20-100 "One Piece Fiberglass Belly Pan with Skid Runners Fairing". I have the same belly pan. According to my documentation, "The Belly Pan is intended to protect the primary aircraft structure in the event of a gear-up landing". Aero Mods was out of Wheat Ridge, CO. It was a great design; weighs about 10 lbs. If I can find a good pic, I'll post it.
  22. You can read what Airtex uses : https://www.airtexinteriors.com/catalog_items.php?cat=wallpanels
  23. Just FYI, there was thread about six months ago where another Mooney pilot was trying to round up enough interest to make the minimum buy. You might be able to find that thread and POC.
  24. My original airspeed safety switch was a Dukes. Obviously it went to the pitot circuit though not the vacuum circuit.
  25. Nope. That would have been a good pic.
