  1. Have you checked the turbo carefully?
  2. What altitude and headwind? Nice ride!!
  3. What a great read. Sums up flying - fun, friends, challenges and great memories. Thanks for the reminiscing!
  4. I see a note in the original listed "removed from market", right under the engine times.
  5. And, the J is a bit faster at the altitudes you will fly. I owned a K model for over 10 years and loved if for the long trips where I could climb up but in reality, the J would have been a better option for my profile. The cost, care and feeding of the TSIO 360 is significantly more than the J (6 cylinders, turbo, etc). Just my thoughts.
  6. And Ipad controller. Probably better than you with it:) Nice to see some interest from the young ones!
  7. I recently purchased a 1997 Ovation 1 and love it. The engine was just overhauled and is the 280HP version and I am plenty happy with the performance. I fly mostly on the East Coast. The glare shield doesn't bother me at all, and am used to the visibility. Mine has TKS and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. Where are you located?
  8. +1 for Crossfire. He is good with the dual mags also (he did mine on my Socata back in the day).
  9. What was your TAS and Fuel Burn at 4500 and the reduced setting? Still beats driving!
  10. He just landed - listened to it on HPN's tower. Nice work...
  11. He looks to be getting vectored to 34. 1000 scattered and 1.5m vis. Epic flight. I should drive down and bring him a beer (20 minutes away).
  12. I was on the website and thought I saw something like 2.5 AMU's for the front set - I'll verify with them directly. If that is the case, the next questions (maybe somebody can help with are): - installation costs and does it require specialization? - Periodic maintenance of sensors and repacks (or whatever that might entail) - wearing comfort? are they bulky and uncomfortable or any other reason users may not like them? Thanks all.
  13. Mooney Folks: Has anybody installed the AMsafe airbags in the front seats of their Mooney? I have an earlier Ovation (prior to them being standard equipment) and was wondering if there might be experience here on install costs and feedback if you have? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks,
  14. Very sharp. Nice work. Sad sight behind your plane.
  15. Thanks Paul. My Ovation is a 1997 so I should be good. I would like to retro fit those cup holders. Anybody ever do that in an earlier longmbody?
  16. I was on the SCS Interiors website planning on buying some floor mats for my Ovation. I see they have a pre-cut set designed for the Bravo. Might anybody know if the dimensions of the cockpit floor are the same for the M and the R. Just looking to see if anybody knows before I get up to measure them. See attachment. Thanks....
  17. If it were me and I knew the engine had been IRAN'd recently and was running fine, I'd fly it and stay close to it for the first 50-75 hours until you felt confident in it(25 hour oil changes, oil analysis, boroscope and engine data). If the two prop strikes have been repaired properly and all the internals checked good at that time I would see no urgent reason to do anything - specifically if it were running fine and many parts were replaced (bearings, seals, etc). It theoretically is a low-mid-time engine at this point. If things were not, the equation becomes more complicated because if you did a field overhaul you would want to be sure you would have the confidence - an overhaul will retain your case, crank, etc. I just had my IO550G overhauled at Poplar Grove with new nickel cylinders and am happy so far (40 hours in) - for me the Poplar Grove overhaul and not purchasing from the factory met my standards and goals and was more cost effective and it mine was a first run engine, so I opted to keep "my" engine. Congratulations and best of luck with the plane. I happen to love the paint scheme. One of the best looking machines I have seen (although I know you are painting it).
  18. Perhaps it has to do with perceived "value", where the financing organization wants to be protected from a hull value? Runout engine = worth significantly less on the market should they need it? Speculation only....
  19. Are you guys running 75% power and then going LOP or starting at something somewhat less like 65% or 70%. I flew my (new to me Ovation) LOP the other day and it was smooth - 12.3 GPH and 168 knots but leaned from a 65% ROP configuration to LOP. Thoughts / feedback?
  20. +1 for Weber AIrcraft at Lancaster (KLNS). Call Steve - very helpful.
  21. Airtim: I send you a PM. I did a lot of research on that plane. I spoke to the engine rebuilder (Pine Mountain) who did the overhaul prior to Penn Yann doing the IRAN. She had Nickel Cylinders done at that time. The install is excellent. I ended up buying an ovation but I liked the plane ......... Good luck! Feel free to call if you would like to chat.
  22. Airtim: N5812T?
  23. I just had my IO550G overhauled by Poplar with new nickel cylinders. Short story = engine is running well after 35 hours and they did a nice job but had some significant delays. I am happy to share my experience if you'd like to PM me.
  24. Derek - congratulations! Plane looks great. Where are you basing the plane and having the work done. I base my Mooney at KBDR and fly in Westchester quite often. We can meet up for lunch.
