  1. What about a Bravo? I'd sell mine at that price point. I need a reason to upgrade to a TKS plane myself.
  2. August 2020. Looking at my logs it was an overhaul exchange.
  3. AGL in Morganton...KMRN. Second choice, Cole Aviation in GA. Both great MSC's on the East Coast.
  4. I had a KFC200 roll servo replaced at Thom Duncan Avionics/AutoPilot South in TN. 833-838-6226. Not sure if it was a OH unit or a new one, but was out and replaced in a matter of days...no issues since and fixed right up.
  5. The Bravo is great, but would love an Acclaim with TKS/FIKI. Something to poke through some layers..
  6. Go Bravo Both are within the same price point...Turbo is nice to have and wasn't needed for my mission, but not sure I could go back to NA now. Only thing I am missing is TKS/FIKI which will be on my next plane when I upgrade. DA and UL will need to be the two things to keep an eye on.
  7. I had good luck at Thom Duncan Avionics. Located in TN, but a short Mooney flight away. https://www.thomduncanavionics.com/
  8. The picture in the article does look like he made it to the fuel pumps...but did he get fuel is the real question...
  9. Saw this in another forum. I would say this pilot was lucky! Hitting steel power lines on short final can only end one of two ways. No injuries, just maybe a bruised ego. https://www.heraldchronicle.com/news/local/pilot-avoids-crash-landing-after-colliding-with-power-lines/article_1903c806-66d5-11eb-991d-6b6311c10ac5.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=email&utm_campaign=user-share
  10. I got voluntold to join Operation Warp Speed being a US Army Logistics Officer. I know nothing about vaccines, but here for the distribution and ensuring supplies are needed at the right place at the right time. My job everyday is an LNO to watch the Moderna and soon to be Janssen vaccines being filled into vials, inspected, and packaged for shipment. I'm no MD, but been involved in many meetings with senior leaders and do not feel any shortcuts have come about this process. Has there been challenges...of course, but the approval process and decision making has been based on science. Everyday, we're filling about 2M Moderna doses to be distributed to the American public. It's been a rewarding experience to say the least. I get my second shot next week and look forward to it.
  11. Looks like Jonny hit 290kts in his M20T this morning! Cruising along! https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N705SE/history/20210122/1400Z/KERV/KDRP
  12. Sounds high to me. When I first bought my Bravo with 0TT, 0MM, 250 total time w/ $240,000 hull was quoted $3511. Only had to do 3 hrs with a CFI prior to solo flight. $1000 deductible.
  13. I'm in the same boat as well....would like to upgrade to a FIKI Bravo/O/Acclaim. When I find one, my Bravo might be on the market as well.
  14. I bought my Bravo sight unseen, having never flown in a Mooney before. Luckily, it was at a reputable MSC for an annual and I happened to know the owner's son. Gave me his no BS opinion on it and completed the sale...even without a separate PPI. Worked out good going on 2.5 years with no major issues. In this market you have to act fast!
  15. I personally do like this plane but without WAAS and an STEC, I'd be leery. If an NXI and GFC500/600 would be an option, I'd probably jump on it. I need to upgrade my Bravo to something with TKS.
  16. Cole Aviation in Dalton, GA isn't terribly far...great MSC. I had my last annual done at Daytona Aircraft Services..another MSC and had a good experience. They're an avionics shop, but believe others have had a hit or miss relationship with them.
  17. Anything is available for the right price...including Bravos.
  18. I'm right around the corner from KBAK at BMG and in Elizabethtown, KY (EKX).
  19. $8500 is crazy. I had no Mooney time, about 5 hrs of HP and RG before the purchase of my Bravo. My hull was 240k as well and was only quoted around 3300 with about 325 hrs TT. I would say shop it around as best as you can..
  20. My cost to maintain I would say have been the same as the Ovation. Nothing I have had to replace/fix is specific to the Bravo. Most of my flying previous to the Bravo was 6-8k as well, but now I'll fly 8-12.5k. For longer trips I'll go 13-17k on O2, but haven't taken mine above 16/17k yet. My biggest unknown is the cost to OH. I just went over 1000 hrs on my engine, so still have (hopefully) 1000 more to go. I'll probably sell mine before that point as I really want one with FIKI/TKS.
  21. Don't rule out the Bravo...when I was searching an O was probably more my flight profile, but I found a Bravo for sale at a good price. The turbo is nice to have and can feel it kick in on climb outs. Haven't had any issues with the turbo (knock on wood)..but I consider it an O on steroids with an extra umph. What is your budget?
  22. I leave my prop at cruise setting (2200) in the decent and then full forward for landing...am I wrong?
  23. Once you go turbo, you won't go back. I wish mine had FIKI and I'm waiting for the right Acclaim to come on the market so my Bravo can find a new home
  24. Like you...I was looking at a good O or Bravo when my plane search began. Ovation probably fits my mission better, but there was a good Bravo on the market at a reasonable price when I bought it. I normally fly below 15k and most flights even below 10k. I wasn't looking for AC, but wanted FIKI, just they are unicorns when they hit the market and almost always get a premium. That's the one thing I wish my Bravo had to punch through layers. You can't beat the performance of a turbo, even if you don't REALLY need it.
  25. Last week I just paid $307 for an oil change at an MSC in the Midwest. $190 of that labor (2 hrs).
