  1. Received 2 pack from Amazon yesterday. How did you cut the hole, Paul?
  2. https://www.knots2u.net/categories/mooney-aircraft-models/wing-tips.html ouch!
  3. Well FWIW, I doubt there's much of a conspiracy at Garmin. The G5 has been out there for what...3 years? It was never designed to have Syn Vis or any of the other myriad capes the 275s can have. It was a simple, direct way to put a very inexpensive glass display into a lot of cockpits (my guess only, of course). Moore's law at work...plus I suspect gradually increasing "comfort" at the FAA, and the need to continue to innovate to keep market share. G5 is perfect for what it does. I think the GI275 is by design a mid-point product, nicely niched in between a G3X or Aspen and the G5. Good idea, good marketing. $.02
  4. Yikes! Now I gotta go do mine twice more! Looking good EB!
  5. This may help: Black new custom panels Light grey leather by Aero Comfort
  6. I have just a little bit...
  7. Awesome!
  8. Yes...it was just thick enough to square them off just enough.
  9. My #2 is a 430W and it also works fine. But it can't be controlled by the G3x Touch, and having never had to be a GNS knob-twisting expert, I dont know how to do much with it besides enter a flight plan and dial in a radio freq to listen to AWOS. The freqs I look up on the 750 or on the G3X on the Waypoint tab..because touchscreen. The flight plan I never do because it crossfills from the 750 or the G3x. None of which are a $6,000 irritant...yet.

  11. At I68 in Lebanon
  12. NexAir Avionics. If the 430W upgrade is $4500 the trade up to a 650 is only $3,000.
  13. My first airplane was a '78 M20J, and it was my wife's idea to buy it! A keeper for sure!
  14. GTechniq Liquid Crystal C2V3.
  15. Climb at 130-135 KIAS and I get about 1000 fpm even at that altitude 197 KTAS, 30", 2230 rpm (it's smoothest and quietest there), 18 gph, 1550 TIT (ROP obviously) I misspoke on book speed. Book would be about 201 KTAS (not 198) so I'm about 4 knots slow
  16. Update: Climbed out at full power today all the way to 14,000...then climbed again to 16,000. All cool, no worries. AND: an enormous shout out to @AGL Aviation and Lynn, the crew, and Tamara. FANTASTIC annual. Magicians with a Rocket TSIO-520NB, two quick turns of the screws and they nailed idle and full power mixture on the first try! Amazing. Fast, efficient, knows everything about Mooneys. I will be back every year. Meanwhile @Richard Knapp I hope you're enjoying your Rocket as much as I love mine...I'm within a knot of Rocket book TAS at 16,000 feet: 197 KTAS on 18 gph. What a machine!
  17. @Richard KnappMr. Knapp's original question has been eclipsed as usual. Did anyone answer satisfactorily, sir?
  18. now why ddn't I think of that??? I'll do exactly that on my climbout from AGL tomorrow or Thursday.
  19. Winter---1000-1500 fpm. Did it last Saturday, closer to 72 deg F OAT on departure, closer to 1000. Dropped off a bit after 10,000' but I was also running 140 KIAS to keep cool-my top end FF is set too low, being adjusted as we speak.
  20. My Rocket is not as cool as @aviatorebs and I've owned it less than a year, but... I climb at 130 KIAS and 35/2500 after 1000 AGL, cowl flap wide open and mixture full rich. That keeps them all below 400, although I did have to push it over to about 140 KIAS once last August enroute from KABQ to KGXY to keep under 400. EB--do you have GeeBee baffles? I asked him about them last Nov and he doesn't have a pattern for a Rocket--I wasn't sure if the stock K baffle seals would work on a Rocket. Also EB--when you're running LOP what's your TIT? I can get there, around 13.1-13.3 gph with a .3 gph GAMI spread. But my TIT at that setting is 1620 or so and I can't make myself comfortable with that. So what's your TIT when LOP, FF, around mid teens, and how many knots do you lose LOP vs ROP? Ok now I've looked at the flight data...your TIT really is COOLER than EGT??? How did you do that???? I'd love it if all my CHTs would run just 20 deg cooler and TIT around 1500, and I'll spend money to get there if someone can tell me what to spend it on!
  21. cool. What parts did you use to make it do that? Looks like you have the landing light alternately pulsing with the recognition lights? I've been thinking of doing the same so I'm very interested in "how" and "with what stuff". Oh wait....the AeroLed PAR 36 has its own wig wag circuit...maybe you used one of those?
  22. I already weigh just 170 at 5'11", and body fat around 10%. The gym route wouldn't have helped me I might have 5 lbs to lose, but not 60...
  23. I will add: I got my ferry permit yesterday and I'm off to my delayed annual at AGL this Saturday or Sunday. So I'm back in bidnith flying by end of next week. You other Mooney dudes who're using coatings in the next couple of weeks--we should see if we can meet up somewhere, open up a grill, some charcoal, and some meat from coolers in the airplanes, and grill some burgers on somebody's flight line while we compare our C2v3 (or other product) results while admiring our glistening Mooneys.
