OK, I just remember it happening that way. Could it be that the regulations changed since the 80's - early 90's? And to put it into further context, I was about 16 years old at the time and my Dad could have told me that he was teleported into the cockpit of the airliner to land for them and I would have believed him :-).

Back in the 80's and 90's, my Dad flew his Baron to work from KLUL to KGPT on Wednesday mornings. KGPT is a regional airport on the MS Gulf Coast. As such, in the fall, advection fog would often be a factor in the visibility at the airport, often causing the Part 121 Airliner of the day to be in a holding pattern as Dad was cleared for the approach as was and still is legal under Part 91 rules. If Dad was able to complete the approach (at or above minimums as observed on the approach of course), he would immediately relay a PIREP, thus overriding the automated weather reporting and allowing the airliner to attempt the approach. PIREPS are valuable tools for many reasons.

For those of you who opted for the extra $500 charge to have a new unit waiting on you at the shop, does that mean that the old one is still sent in as a used core? I assume this is the case but I need to verify before I pick up my airplane this Friday (fingers crossed on that). Alex

You will need to search not only the aircraft and engine but also the accessories themselves...it can become quite overwhelming if you try to do it without some third party collation service.... I have a Bravo with a KFC 150 that is failing its test sequence. The avionics shop believes that its due to a shorted /broken wire from the AP disconnect switch on the yoke to the computer. He tested the switch - OK. He wants to find a copy of the wiring schematic for the KFC 150 for the installation specific to the long body Mooney....is there such a thing? Where might I find one if so?

Ok, if you can get parts for that, then we all should stop worrying about parts for our Mooneys!

So true! When my wife started flying with me, I paid careful attention to her comfort level, enjoyment, etc... It paid off in an unexpected way... She is taking flying lessons and we are having more fun than ever flying together! Alex

I've always used either KPDK or KFTY. Both are relatively GA friendly.
