  1. As you mentioned above, 252s can get the "Encore conversion". That adds 230lbs of UL so about 1100lbs.
  2. Any thought on the Garmin ones e.g. GI 275 (EIS) or the one integrated in the G3X/G500? I'm also looking at options to upgrade from an EDM-700.
  3. Fixed gear would likely mean lower insurance premiums. I couldn't believe what my hangar neighbor is paying for a 182 with similar hull coverage.
  4. Not sure I should talk about cars of insurance anymore. Just got a few quotes back, the best is up 10% but I started with 0h retract and 0h make & model last year so that's still not great...
  5. You are correct. I've asked MT a couple of months ago for my 252 and the 4-blade isn't STC'ed for smaller engines. The 3-blade still looks like a good option though.
  6. Kerosene is supposed to work well and was recommended in some Mooney POH to clean oil on the aircraft belly.
  7. Apparently these are the dirty ones. And since they were mistakenly disconnected a few years ago, they now fear some oil/grease could also be on the inside...
  8. I wanted to get my O2 system back by replacing an expired O2 tank. However, the MSC working on the annual called me saying that when the expired tank had been placarded INOP (5 years ago), they had disconnected the cabin feed line instead of the refill one and that some "oily" substance was no showing... Oil/Grease aren't words I like to hear in a sentence about O2. They are now scratching their heads to find a solution so I thought I'd ask the MS community for some ideas.
  9. Thank you. The MSC already got Aircraft Accessories started on it and an exchange should be on the way before the end of next week. This annual is going to be costlier than I thought...
  10. Thank you so much!
  11. @WilliamR What did you end up doing with the fuel pump? They just found the exact same issue with mine (TSIO-360-MB). Thank you
  12. Have you checked nothing is preventing the fan to spin which in turn could make the breaker trip? I've had small debris getting inside the fan and affecting it.
  13. From my research before deciding on a 252: GB -> early 231. Most changed for LB during OH. Temperature issues. LB -> 231. Still has some temperature issues but not as bad as the GB. Some of these have been retrofitted with an intercooler and/or Merlyn wastegate. That helps a lot but requires a bit of engine management. MB -> 252. Much better with respect to temperatures. Fitted with intercooler and automatic wastegate which make the engine management easier. SB -> Encore. Essentially the MB with slightly different settings which gives it 10 extra HP. MBs can be converted to SBs. That’s my very basic understanding of these engines and I’m sure more knowledgeable MSers will elaborate and correct any errors.
  14. My G-242 needs to be replaced and I want to get a sealed battery. Reading this, it seems Concorde is a no-brainer but I wonder if anyone is actually using a new sealed battery from Gill?
  15. I was talking about the Mooney
  16. It would be great to be able to do that in my 252. Unless I'm flying with passengers in the back seats, I need full trim up once full flaps are set. Might be time to loose some weight on the nose.
  17. I looked at this for France and it seems that you get a VAT and Customs duty waiver if you have owned the plane abroad for over 6 months in your own name and import it as part of a move.
  18. Thank you so much. No luck there unfortunately. There was a file but it does appear to be corrupted. I'll call Garmin in the morning.
  19. That would be great. I tried some old MS-DOS commands yesterday but no luck. Thank you!
  20. I was trying to update my database today and ended up deleting a file from the 480 card by mistake! It’s a file named info.dat located in the upsat folder. Anyone faced the same situation?
  21. Thank you. I’ll have a look there next time.
  22. As a datapoint, I ended up at $3.5k for a 252, hull insured for $100k, PP and 0h retract.
  23. I did look in there yesterday and couldn’t locate it but I’ll double check.
  24. Yes that’s the one I have. It’s below the right wing, about halfway.
