  1. Good idea, but not where I live. The local Ace store is not well stocked... If you want a 3/4" steel galvanized tee, they have that. It will be in a wet bin near the floor because the roof leaks. Say "set screw" and you'll get howls and vowels. I'm going to have to order something.
  2. Hi all, I have an issue with the Terra TMA 230 audio panel in my Mooney - the set screw is missing on the XMTR select knob. Any time I want to switch transmitters, I must pull off the knob, turn the shaft on the selector, then put the knob back on. I do this because I like the way the knob looks and don't want to lose it, but this creates uncertainty regarding "what transmitter is active?" and is annoying. If someone has one of these audio panels, could you kindly provide a set screw measurement? Alternatively, if anyone has an extra, I'd be willing to talk $$. Photo provided to show you what mine looks like. I guess I could find a complete replacement knob- that would be plan B. Advice welcome on source/dims for that too. Thanks! Fred
  3. In my experience the bursts are surprisingly small and low. Disappointing and not that cool.
  4. I have a VAL COM 760 that needs a new panel to live in. It worked great before I took it out to make way for a GNS430W. PM me if interested.
  5. Update. My installer found the issue with the Accutrak II install - the unit had a bad connector. He replaced it and the system is working great. I flew 74 nm back from his shop today with the Accutrak II slaved to the Garmin 430W, and my track on flightaware is a straight line. I'm really pleased with it. Cool to see 1960's discrete electronics still working as designed, and getting along with our "space age" tech.
  6. My family left the state for parts west in 1866. Only by accident have I returned, so I don't have an elephant or an eagle in the hunt. I just watch the show with awe.
  7. I could sure have used some of it this weekend. The hangar gnomes went on strike and I was left to do the sweeping and vacuuming!
  8. Snow can be great if available in supply without trees. The co-owner of my local FBO once landed a Seneca with a frozen-up (by ice) main landing gear on snow next to the runway. The only damage was to the belly antennas. He was able to feather the props and get them in a horizontal position before touchdown. It was his home field and had time to work it out. He bounced it down the runway multiple times on two gear trying to get the third to drop. No joy. I didn't see it but saw photos in the local paper.
  9. <Knock on wood, but for the grace of ....> In the past this poor J seems to have been cursed by forgetful pilots, one of whom was not a very creative fibber. The a/c history on aviationdb.net is an interesting read.
  10. Not there there I hope.
  11. Does this mean that I"m flying a museum piece?
  12. Good question. It seems that if the FAA thinks your a/c is a '67, then they will expect to see a '67 POH. However, given what @Igor_U says, it should have a '68 manual because it is a 1968 model. I'm interested to learn if anyone in MS has a definite answer.
  13. That is fantastic. I have always felt short-changed by the 1967 POH. I might think about doing a document merge at some point. Very similar a/c except the speeds are bit different + only elect. gear and a much more spacious panel.
  14. thanks, @carusoam I didn't see that before.
  15. My question is this: is the 1977 M20C POH "better" than the 1967 M20C POH? It seems that it should be much better because of the experience gained in that 11 years, and because it was largely the same airframe. Does anyone have a pdf version?
  16. An event calendar is a great idea. I hope all club members can post to it?
  17. Yes, a huge improvement. It makes the interior of my a/c look shabby... I guess maybe we'll attack that next ... year.
  18. David, here's some synchronicity for you- In early January when I first came across the photo you posted of your pile of instruments sitting there with no panel, I thought "I gotta do that". Thanks for the inspiration! Look back on this thread and you'll see that I took essentially the same photo. Also the similar outcome is pretty striking. Fred
  19. Thanks! I'm really happy with how it turned out. This being my first airplane, I asked for help. The collective contributions of the MS community helped me to make what I think are better decisions!
  20. The labels are ready. I haven't had good conditions to apply them- too sweaty in hangar! Sweat dripping in eyes is not good for detailed optical work. Man it has been HOT.
  21. Done!!! Still troubleshooting the Accutrak II, but everything is in place. Compare with "before" photo on the 2nd page of this thread. Another museum piece Mooney brought forward decades in terms of technology.
  22. The lights behind the rocker switches are on. That is all that works from the pilot's perspective. I'm going to let my installer figure this one out.
  23. Hi @Hector thanks for your generous offer. I'm taking the ship back to my installer tomorrow so he can spend some more time troubleshooting. The maintenance manual that I received from Cecilia, formerly of Brittain Ind., has a lot of great troubleshooting advice in it that my installer can try to test both the accutrak and the valve. I'll keep your offer in my back pocket in case he can't solve the problem. A flight to JAX would be fun.
