  1. I'm interested and would love to see some testimonies of current owners. Anyone have the auto lean? What enhancements will the new kit have? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. The link isn't working for me. Id be interested in finding out if the seats can be installed in a '81J. Prices yet? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. I'm interested in finding out members experiences shopping for paint for their Mooney's. Specifically interested in Midwest shops in the 10-15k range, if there still is such a thing. Not interested in stories more than 3 years old. If you've had your Mooney painted recently, and can recommend the shop, let me know! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Looking like it has the higher gross weight already. You're right, the empty weight is high. Adding the TKS is probably the culprit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  6. We installed the GTN750 this spring and kept the KX170 as the second. It rarely gets used due to the monitor function of the 750. We also run an iPad mini with Foreflight, but I REALLY like the Garmin pilot app that you get for free for 3 months. It basically turns your iPad into another display for the 750 for traffic, wax, etc. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Our mechanic had me look behind the annunciator panel. We found a very slightly chafed wire. Fixed it and repositioned it, and we're good to go. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Our '81 J model has developed an issue with the gear warning horn. The CB pops when the gear is raised and can't be reset until the gear is down again. Any ideas of where to start looking? Anyone else have this problem in the past?
  9. See if you can cash in on the FAA $500 rebate just announced for ADS-B Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. We are as well. You might stumble for a few days, but I'm assuming you're changing to a number that means something to you, so you'll catch it quickly. Airline pilots change their call sign every leg. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. I spent around 5 years until the planets aligned to find the right partners. Having a similar mission certainly helps! We formed the LLC, opened the checking account, then bought our J model, after considering other aircraft. Efficiency won and everyone is happy. My only worries are when one decides to leave. 12. In '86 when I took my 67F to Topeka KS to get painted I needed to fly to Wichita to catch a flight back to Denver. The flight to Wichita was in a 727 at 5500 ft VFR! Weirdest thing ever. Quietest flight I've ever had in an airliner. On the way out I asked the captain about it and he said that he was given a long delay for a release, so he canceled and went VFR. Back when fuel was cheaper! If he were to do that now, he'd be making a fuel stop as dispatchers only load the FAR minimum. When the started with the airline, we always filled the main tanks every leg. I think Gulf war 1 started the dispatch with just enough fuel. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Airliners have two transponders because they can't go VFR. My guess is that 90% of the time, you'd get back home, or within 30 miles of it with one transponder. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Do you have O2? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. $400. No CDI. I think you're going to need a King CDI, and they're way more!
  16. Not used in our installation.
  17. I owned an RG and absolutely LOVE the Cardinal! In fact, I was looking for another RG when we came across the Mooney we currently own. Head and shoulders above the 172, even though it's a 68. (That model year gave the Cardinal it's bad name) but it looks like a nice plane, and can't beat the price! Heck, if somebody told me learn for free, I'd have done it in a Tri Pacer! 19. I've gone past TBO on a IO-360 and on a Cont. O-300. The 360 went about 400 hours and sucked a valve. The 300 hadn't been overhauled since 1964 and was still running strong 600 hours past TBO. I think the real issue is how you use the plane. The O-300 was a day VFR airplane. Sucking a valve at night or IFR is going to have a significantly higher pucker factor! 20. I concur. You can't run 100 amps through wire sized for 60. 70 might be okay, but 90-100 will cost you a lot more than the alternator alone. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. We just got ours back from Lapeer Aviation and they didn't rape us over labor Like another quote from a shop just to the west did. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. We've installed a GDL88 recently, so are looking to sell our 1 year old Stratus 2. If you're using Foreflight and don't have one of these, you don't know what you're missing. $900 new, I think $650 is a fair price. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. If you have a good partner in mind, go for the J! Annuals are 1/2 off the F model ;-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Can't believe your timing. We just bought a used 170b on eBay, which I would have gladly bought from you! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
