  1. 56 replies to priming the "easy starting" carbed birds... Impressive.
  2. Maybe being uncomfortable will effect reduction of said "death grip"...
  3. Just to be clear I liked the offer not the poor soul's spinning in their bird...
  4. Wisconsin Grouse and Woodcock even more fun That would be awesome! I could probably provide some chum...
  5. Hey, just a side-note Spruce sells Bose earcups. They are cheap and were really easy to install. Mine were falling apart after a decade and I finally did something about it. Feels like new again. I still really like my "free" Bose X.
  6. I believe I saw video on the national news showing that copter coming apart. Two dead. Story said they were landing struck tail and spun out of control and burst into flames as it disintegrated. Bad day. Glad you both had what look like absolutely beautiful flights. Thanks for sharing the pics. I have had some fantastic time spent in San Diego on vacation with my wife.
  7. Hank, A photo won't help as I know it needs to have a fabbed piece in the cut hole to allow the screws on the ball vent mount plate to have a flush flat surface to mate with...
  8. Guys, I HAVE the vent. I know where it goes. The vent does NOT sit flush after you cut. It is NOT square. It needs a metal seal fabbed for the vent to screw into and be water tight. Yes Yetti, you made that too hard. :)
  9. I like the cut it out of an existing suggestion. Anybody know of some good salvage yards/contact info?
  10. I have bugged my A&P to install a right side co-pilot vent for years. Never gets it done. I have the matching vent from pilot side, but need the "mount" fabricated that the eyeball fits into sealing the hole created in the existing right side-ram air vent. Anybody have a template/want to fab me one for a 1966 E? PM me for price on the job. Just want to get this project done. If I hand him ALL the parts then mounting should not be a big deal.
  11. Thanks for wrecking my plane -Joe taxpayer
  12. Not in any unit of a company I worked in...If you suck, make poor decisions that cost money...you are gone. With a whimper not a boom. H.R. knows all. They aren't talking...
  13. We are not talking about noise levels that are dangerous (in a piston plane) from an impact standpoint. Jet engines, Gunshots, Rock concerts. This is noise at 110-120+. Yes, hearing loss is insidious. It occurs slowly over time and is impacted by the aging process...That said it is about duration. Duration over time is the enemy. I wear ANR headsets primarily for the reduced clamping force/comfort and the quality of the sound. I wear over ear muffs when I cut the grass...for comfort. I wear plugs when I shoot skeet or targets. If I worked in a mfg plant daily...with noise at or around 85db (Time weighted over an 8 hour day) I would wear ear plugs. OSHA says mandatory if 90dba and test (annual employee hearing at 85dba)...you know cause it's the employers fault if you listen to music at ridiculous levels and otherwise do not protect your hearing and employer must pay if you experience a shift in hearing capability. Seriously, passive headsets or ANR headsets are doing their job...giving you protection from high noise levels. The comfort and quality cost money. For my 50-100 hour annual exposure (minimal) impact I am more worried about "the other stuff"...Hearing is for life. Protect it, but don't go overboard like wearing plugs in a car...
  14. My plane is 90db 90 is the threshold to have noise reduction in an 8 hour workday. How many hours do you fly? How many hours do you ride in a car with windows down? How many hours listening to music in car or wearing ear buds? I have zero fear of hearing loss from flying with noise canceling headsets. Not enough exposure. The other stuff...THAT is what to worry about including a lot of daily work noise without protection. Target shoot? Wear protection.
  15. I have a better condition replacement with good hinges I would part with. PM me if interested with address and I will send pics.
  16. I just had the urge to watch WestWorld again. Thank you.
  17. My dad used a phrase, it went like this: _ _ IT or get off the pot... I find it appropriate to this thread. I will wait to hear the bells ringing from the church steeples, or not.
  18. Well duh. OR dive it at multiple thousands of FPM and then go uh oh. Who doesn't have a GPS with Direct to nearest selection? If you don't...Get one. Less AMU's than a chute...Even if you are wearing one.
  19. Guy bought a late model SR22 in 08 for less than I paid for my E. If you all want a rocket propelled ballistic chute so bad-buy a used Cirrus. It would be one thing to get it done for a new M20, but to pine for one on our vintage planes is goofy. What do you think this would cost? About what your planes are worth...and pay a lot of AMU's when the re-packing is due. Whatever floats your boat, but again...the option is there. Buy a Cirrus. Not like used Cirrus airframes are scarce...in fact I bet you can get a great deal on a bunch that have the re-pack due. Have fun with that.
  20. I looked for handles and did not notice the cover "lurking behind the belt" :)
  21. I know. I just wanted to put my personal experience out there so others might spend their money on other mods like a HID landing light...for instance if they want to. Merely a counter-point to all the alternator love.
  22. My panel used to look just like that except it was fake wood and had a tiny revolving DG that showed about 30 degrees like a compass. THAT was scary. This is a MAJOR improvement over my POS panel at purchase.
  23. +1 The ONE thing I covet above all else is the split back folding seats and convertable retractable/removable rear seats of later J models...sigh.
